Hi Mike

I have just come across a UHD disc that MakeMKV cannot read and that, with a Verbatim name on it, is shown as a Pioneer BDR-UD04 in the device manager.

Amongst all the posts on Pioneer I couldn't find how to fix this - is there a guide for idiots on how to make this pioneer drive work?

Thanks
Nick

If it's a Verbatim 43888, it should work as is.

Have you checked the box to allow MakeMKV internet access in preferences? If yes, show us the log so we can help you further.
Cheers :D

Hi, yes that is ticked.
Where are the logs saved - can't see them in the MakeMKV install folder or in Users\user\appdata\roaming (or local)?

Or do you just mean the on-screen messages in the lower pane?

Oh and yes, 43888

Well that's bizarre! Just tried it for about the 8th time and no error message this time.
The only difference ids I turned on debug logging...

I have BDR-XD07U previously firmware 1.04. I was using MakeMKV perfectly fine. Since I was going to rip a bunch of BD's I decided to buy the package and also see if there was a firmware update, and there was, so I did. Now it won't read any Blu-Ray disks and see there are some firmware updates that prevent ripping. :x

Is there a way to get this to work?

Nope. We've been waiting a year so far and could very well be many more (if ever!).
Cheers :D

Thanks for the response, even if bad news. I really like this Pioneer drive. Are there USB ones to buy now like this Pioneer that are known to work?

Hi!

I'm a little confused about the purpose of LibreDrive and UHD support and was hoping some helpful folks here could clarify some things for me.

I have a Pioneer Electronics BDR-XD07B, originally purchased in 2019 and still running the original firmware. The drive does not currently read UHD disks, but I'm confused if that's because I need to update the firmware with the LibreDrive firmware somehow or if the hardware itself is not capable of reading UHD.

Hopefully my question makes sense. Appreciate any and all helpful responses!

Please DO NOT upgrade this drive's firmware!

You might need to cross-flash this drive, but please obtain expert help from someone on this forum before doing any such thing.

Libredrive should work for your drive unless you have an ancient version of Makemkv installed.
