Cool thanks. What about what speeddemon said?
what about it?
TV-LED is preferred but that doesn't make LLDV inaccurate with the right player/setup. Dynamic is better than static...

I intend to say that hope that Infuse adds support for P8 cm4.0.
Will see what happens in next months.
I doubt cmv4.0 will be any different than what it is right now with the native player.

Yeah thanks, I am just asking like, does it really leave most dynamic tone mappings out? And even though TV-LED is better is there a big difference?

I dont know, I didn't compare TV-LED to LLDV much.
My main setup(C2) is far from my lldv testing setup(cheap TV) so I can't force LLDV on my C2 (x800m2) without removing the Vertex(can force lldv) from my testing setup.

I see, I just hope I am not missing out too much by not having TV-LED.

If you have a choice, then go TV-led. If you don't, then just use LLDV. The difference is typically substantial in my testing.

How important it is to you should depend on a wide spectrum, ranging from something like a professional colorist to being the type of person who takes a TV out of the box and leaves it in vivid mode. Only you know where you fall on that spectrum.

Is there some way to force the X700 into TV-LED?

Good to know. I thought I wasted my money for a second because apperantly I cannot do TV-LED but with LLDV for real content there is no difference I guess.

Aside from chroma weight what is wrong with LLDV? Does it have all those issues ragico stated? Or are those issues just with those other players like the shield, the firestick and those others he mentioned?
The difference between Player-led and TV-led Dolby Vision is significant on a calibrated/capable display:
  1. For Player-led (or Fake TV-led in this conversation), the player only knows a small amount about the display through the HDMI EDID handshake, primarily MaxCLL. This is not enough information to fully dynamically tone map. This is better than static metadata HDR10 but leaves most dynamic tone mapping capabilities on the table since a display's characteristics are more complicated than just its max luminance and/or max APL.
  2. For TV-led, The display's 3D LUT, chromaticity+Luminance at all APL levels, near-black performance, and additional display characteristics are all considered while mapping.
I don't think player-led is bad as long as it is done right. For example, it is said Panasonic player has the best tone mapping or picture quality.

ATV already supports cmv4.0 P8 and as I said, it doesn't work well. In TV-LED it is not as bad as this but I still can see it: https://slow.pics/c/VGBhNeQU
What is it you see ? I converted "color bar RGB 0-10 000nits P8 DoVi cmv4.0 L1 only.ts" to mp4, added to my "Home movies" on my MBP & then viewed on ATV4K3 in DV using native player, see comparison with Oppo. ATV has artifacts in one red square but the gradient is there for all colours, camera photo was just a quick shot.

yep, that's what I'm seeing too. Those artifacts are not on the Shield TV-LED nor on the C2 internal player.

TV-LED can only work if the TV support it.

Right, is it really leaving most dynamic tone mapping capabilities out in LLDV like he said?

Anyway sorry for asking so many questions. I assume at least even LLDV is better than the TV’s dynamic tone mapping with hdr10?

That's great if LLDV meets your needs.

Still, my experience from testing the following players indicates a significant difference between Player-led and Standard-led when displayed on a calibrated/accurate LG or Sony OLED (A95K is the only Sony with accurate DV): Zidoo/Dune Realtek RTD1619DR, Dune/Homatics Amlogic S905X4-K, 2021/2023 Fire TV Stick 4K Max, CCwGTV4K, 2019 Shield TV Pro, 2018-2023 LG WebOS, 2021/2022 Apple TV 4K, and Oppo UDP-203.

Based on posts in this thread:
The only true TV-led devices are Shield and Apple TV.
All other streaming devices are fake TV-led.
All UHD players - Oppo and Sony - pre-process RPU in some unknown way. They do keep some parts of RPU for TV to processes.
TV internal players are not very clear.

Hey Reset. What can I do to have the EAC3 re-encode of the DTS tracks automatically align with the movie as the original DTS track? I used the 8-2 flow for MKV and muxed the EC3 track using MKVToolNix and the EAC3 audio track is out of sync.
