I dont know if there is a free way of getting your TV edid info. I use the vertex and I can also get the edid with a cheap raspberry pi and PGenerator: https://www.avsforum.com/threads/dedica ... 5/#replies

If the edid is higher than 1000 nits, what to do with homatics, ugoos, zidoo, firestick, dune, etc boxes? Trow away in garbage? Or use it only for non DV formats?
if the RPU is 4000nits it's fine but if the RPU is 1000nits like the majority of the movies, do not use DV on those devices.
As I understand only Sony x700 and X800m2, Oppo 2003 and ATV latest generation can do real TV led. Am I wrong?
Yes, all the bluray players should support TV-LED and AFAIK for the media player, only the shield and ATV support it.

homatics etc..), they are completely broken.
Is the Homatics Box R 4K Plus definitely one of these that is completely broken when the MDL >1000-nits?
If not, which Homatics device are you referring to?
Asking because I thought the Homatics S905X4-K devices were CMv4 devices.

I'm referring to whatever model @dmdreview tested in his video. You can ask him, I don't have this device.

I looked closer and he says in the video description (not in the video itself) that it is the Homatics Box R 4K Plus. That's the latest Amlogic S905X4-K that's being used in all the current SEI804HM devices (Homatics, Dune, Nokia, Rocktek).

Zidoo can save TV edid. Zidoo can set customised edid. If my TV is 2000nits and I set Zidoo edid to 1000nits, would it work?

If you want a Player-led device then I think you'd just be significantly better off picking up a 23AFTVS4KM (2023 Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max) and loading Kodi on it. You also even run PKC (PlexKodiConnect) on it. That'll give you Atmos TrueHD passthrough with the most accurate Player-led luminance RESET has tested.

@RESET_9999 have you been able to test the color saturation/accuracy on the 23AFTVS4KM?

With a 2000nits TV, you don't need DV for 1000nits movies(and for most of the movies). A 1000nits edid would be a bad idea because then any shot over 1000nits would be tonemapped to 1000nits while your tv is capable of displaying it untouched. HDR content is graded brighter than the MDL sometimes.

I noticed some extra saturation compared to other devices. I might not investigate this any further since I don't really care about a device that cannot do tv-led. Also, the Firestick devices are doing some Dolby Vision IQ internally even when your TV DV IQ is disabled. If you take quietvoid's L11 test file, it is supposed to work only when your TV(LG) is in Cinema Home mode with DV iq enabled.

For DV MKV playback, I've been using my C2 internal player lately. It seems stable and it works very well, at least for the 3 movies I watched so far.
You have to sideload Kodi in developer mode but it's not too complicated to do and its pretty nice to finally have DV MKV support on LG TVs.

Yes, the values in the plot are for the BL+EL decoded brightness.

Do you mean I should just watch HDR layer instead of DV for the same content? Do I lose anything that DV provides?

I guess what I am trying do is to find a decent external player for P8 cropped content. P8(full frame) can be watched with x800m2. Another way I can think of is to remove cmv4 and use Apple TV. That should give me true TV-led?

Yes, if the content is within your display capabilities, DV doesn't have to tonemap/compress highlights/gamut.
But sometimes they do use the L2 trims to raise the brightness. The latest Mission Impossible flick is a good example.

Wait wait wait, if I install Kodi through that method, I get DV MKV support on my C2 through the built-in player? Can this tool also be used to enable the limited DTS support? I know there was an option to do so with a command line.
