Hello,

Newbie to ripping 4k, I just purchased an Asus BW-16D1HT drive hoping to flash it with the SDFtool Flasher (v1.3.5) that I already downloaded along with the "All You Need Firmware" pack. I don't have the drive yet as it is being shipped but I downloaded the flasher just to see what it looks like just and make sure it opens (preparing to know what to do when I get the drive, tomorrow). I have a few questions:

1. I am supposed to see a Microsoft . NET error before I get to the Flasher? I have the latest .net update installed. It says " Unhandled exception has occurred in your application, If you click continue, the app will ignore this error and attempt to continue."

2. When I continue on anyways, The Flasher doesn't show any drives in the drop down menu...is it built to only recognize certain model drives? or should it recognize any bluray drive connected to my computer?

All the steps outline in this forum seem super simple, but i don't know if what I am seeing is normal. Any help is appreciated.

Im running Windows 11 Home 64 bit

Is MakeMKV installed? SDFtool Flasher is a front-end for the native MakeMKV CLI flash tool, not a stand-alone.

Yes I have MakeMKV installed, but do I have to have it open at the same time as the SDF Tool Flasher for the Flasher to work?

No, but does MakeMKV see your drive(s)? No experience w/ Win11 "idiosyncrasies" to draw on...

v1.15.2 or greater installed and that the drive is empty and tray closed.

To flash the BP50NB40 SVC:NB52, using the latest SDFtool Flasher, follow the steps below:

1. Flash the drive to BP50NB40 (NB50) 1.03-MK.

Now for the cross-flash:

2. Select the RECOVERY option and in the pop up window, select the BP50NB40 (NB50) 1.03-MK firmware that you just flashed.
3. Select the BU40N 1.00 firmware in the normal drop box.
4. Click START

This is not making sense!

Hey, where is this (BU40N 1.00) firmware you mention, as I only see in your (The all you need firmware pack) inside (LG slim BU40N) folder (HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-1.03-NM00000-211810241934.bin) it is BU40N-1.03, not BU40N-1.00?.

I have a LG-BP50NB40 external slim Blu-ray player which is SVC:NB52. I flash it to HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BP50NB40-NB50-1.03-NM00800-212005070917.bin, than recover it to DE_LG_BP60NB10_1.00_MK_HBD.bin, and I can read 4K discs, everything is working ok. But you mention (Also I recommend you use the BU40N 1.00 firmware as it is better than the BP60NB10 firmware.) What's the differences between DE_LG_BP60NB10_1.00_MK_HBD.bin and BU40N 1.00, should I flash it to BU40N, or stay with DE_LG_BP60NB10_1.00_MK_HBD.bin?

I need step by step precise instructions to do this. I never done this before! There's too much of downloading and different directions it's too much.

I don't know about Billy's "All you need firmware pack" but it is in mine! DL link on first page of this thread.

BU40N 1.00 is better than BP60NB10 firmware as it is compatible with all popular ripping software. BP60NB10 firmware only works with MakeMKV and AnyDVD software.
Cheers :D
