M3GAN 4k Volume Key Unknown

Hello

Im getting an error when trying to rip M3GAN on 4K withit saying that the volume key is needed. This titlke has been out for some time so I would expect this to not be a problem.

MakeMKV v1.16.5 win(x64-release) started
The new version 1.17.5 is available for download at http://www.makemkv.com/download/
Using LibreDrive mode (v06.3 id=7FA2657C7667)
Backing up disc into folder "D:/Video/backup/M3GAN"
Saved AACS dump file as C:\Users\markj/.MakeMKV/MKB20_v77_M3GAN_AF42.tgz
The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted

Version 1.16.5 is over two years old; what do you get when you try the more modern version?

If updated the latest version and still the same. Ive also checked within preferences to ensure that the internet access tab was checked and it is

This time, did the system say whether or not it was able to download the most recent key archive? In 1.17.x, that's usually reported whenever it tries to access the archive, unless it's disabled in the configuration. A lot of people leave that turned off for security reasons, because it's hosted in Russia.

It just says it exactly the same as last time. I’m wondering if it exists yet as this is the uk release of the 4K which has just come out, but the availability isn’t usually this slow.

First Preferences page, "General", "Enable Internet access". If it's checked, it will attempt to access the key server when it needs to, often at the same time it checks for a new version.

Some systems block that access, but it will log the attempt, at least. There are ways to allow access, if necessary.

Yes this is something that I checked and it has been ticked so was always enabled. Im guessing it is that the volume has just not been generated yet!

I’ve also just submitted the UK version dump MKB20_v77_M3GAN_AF42.tgz as I am still getting "The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted" message

If it helps I used AnyDVD in the end to get this 4k version ripped.

The latest KEYDB.cfg file contains several entries for this title. Does copying this file into MakeMKV's data directory (i.e. where MakeMKV also writes its TGZ dump files) and restarting MakeMKV help?

I copied that CFG file into the C:\Users\xxx\.MakeMKV folder and retried the disc and this time it worked!

I'm not sure how MakeMKV is picking up a file in that folder that was never there before? Why does it read that file at all?

Also I did send the TGZ file to the makemkv email address a few hours ago so its also possible it was added to the main download list already?

The AF42 variant of M3GAN must exist in the KEYDB.cfg file, although apparently is still missing from MakeMKV's hashed keys.
