Clarification on flashing LG WP50NB40 (Slim)

Post by Paladinz »

I have just had to purchase an external drive for my new PC and got a LG WP50NB40. When I checked the SDFtool Flasher guide it says
UPDATE - 21/12/2021:
The latest version of the SDFtool Flasher has a checkbox option to flash the boot loader with the main firmware to the drive. This is useful for the newer BP50NB40 with SVC: NB52. It's also possible that other newer models may require this option later on. We will all work it out together as we go!!

For the moment, to flash the BP50NB40 SVC:NB52, using the latest SDFtool Flasher, follw the steps below:

1. Flash the drive to BP50NB40 (NB50) 1.03-MK.

Now for the crossflash:

2. Select the RECOVERY option and in the pop up, select the BP50NB40 (NB50) 1.03-MK firmware that you just flashed.
3. Select the BP60NB10 1.00-MK or BU40N 1.00 firmware in the normal drop box.
4. Click START
My drive info shows
Drive Information
OS device name: \Device\CdRom0
Current profile: DVD-ROM
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Product: BD-RE WP50NB40
Revision: 1.03
Serial number: SIK02N1VA5340
Firmware date: 2121-07-08 16:09
Bus encryption flags: 17

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: MT1959
Do I still need to crossflash and do those instructions apply to slim drives?

If you want to rip UHD then yes, you have to crossflash it. Those instructions are only for the BP50NB40 and WP50NB40 drives with SVC NB52. Just look at the sticker underneath the drive.

Follow the same procedure as previous comments. I recommend using the BU40N 1.00 firmware in the final step.

You didn't follow the steps....

You have only done the first part. You need to do the recovery process. Once you select your drive and select recovery, in the popup, you must select the WP50 firmware you already flashed, then in the firmware drop down box, select the BU40N 1.00 firmware.
Cheers :D

Did the flash work though? Post your MakeMKV drive info again
