Hello
I have an LG WH16NS40 drive (rev 1.05), version 1.17.4 of MakeMKV installed. I am trying to run SFDtool Flasher and I get a Microsoft .NET error of Unhandled exception. If I continue past the error the app loads but the select drive box is blank. MakeMKV sees the drive correctly as a MT1959 platform. I am running Windows 11. Is the error because of Win11?

Thanks

Are you running SDFTool Flasher v1.3.5? What is the exception?
Cheers :D

I'm using Windows and here's what I did to fix it:
  • Click Start
  • Type "Turn Windows features on or off
  • Select .NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0)
  • Select .NET Frame 4.8 Advanced Services
  • Click OK to install. It will take a while
  • When done, run the program and it will work.
I suspect that you only need .NET Framework 4.8 but I didn't test that, just check both and you should be good. Once you're done, you can go back and uncheck them to remove them.

Good luck!

Not the same problem as Lazarus has above. I don't think, same drive...except I'm still on windows 10.

This is what I get when flashing:
Command line produced error code: 0x82052603

see screenshot for relevant info. (LG wh16ns40 - 1.17.4mkv (.net 3.5 and 4.8 on per SnargleFarg post) and flasher 1.3.5

Make sure the drive tray is empty and closed and that MakeMKV is installed in the default location which is (C:/Program Files (x86)/MakeMKV)

Hello,

I am attempting to read (and then flash) a WH14NS40 (v1.05). MakeMKV installed, Beta key applied, drive detectable within SDFtool.

When I attempt to read the firmware a dump directory is created but is blank. When I attempt to flash 'HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS60-1.02-NM00100-211810291936' the application provides no indication that it has registered the command. This means I do not see an error, nor does the drive flash. Please forgive the silly question, I have tried to search the thread but nothing is jumping out at me!

Thanks for your help in advance

How is your drive connected to the PC?

What firmware are you trying to flash? If your drive came with encrypted firmware you must flash WH16NS60 1.02-MK first. You can then use this firmware (recommended with MakeMKV) or flash another firmware.
Cheers :D

Bug: the tool launched stuck behind my taskbar, and the usual commands to move it don't work, meaning I have to move my taskbar manually, move the tool, then move the taskbar back.

Just HAD to comment: this tool is a lifesaver- I'm incredibly grateful for the hard work you put into it; I honestly thought I was going to have to ditch the drive I just snagged, but you saved the day! :)

Many, MANY thanks!

Thanks for this tool!

I've now been able to flash my LG-BH16NS55 after getting the following error code - 0x82052603 with DE_LG_BH16NS55_1.02.bin

Managed to resolve this by selecting DE_LG_WH16NS60_1.00.bin

Ripped Tinker tailor to MKV and all working fine now.

Here's an Amazon link, has pictures of the serials etc.

Hitachi-LG BP55 External Blu-Ray Drive, USB 2.0 Slim Portable Player/Rewriter for Laptop, Desktop PC, Windows 11 Compatible, with TV Connectivity, 3D Playback, 8x Read/Write Speed - Black https://amzn.eu/d/0aUDePF

It's flashable to my knowledge just not sure what the correct firmware is.

That's a BP55EB40. If you said that, I would have known what it was. The recommended firmware is BU40N 1.00, which will work with all popular ripping software. The flashing process may differ, depending on how new the drive is. It should have a SVC code written underneath and also on the side of the box where the model / manufacture date is. Let me know the manufacture date and the SVC code and I can advise further,
Cheers :D
