Thanks - that makes sense. One more question. I noticed different files available.

Thanks. I did some more reading as you suggested and finally updated both my external ASUS_BW-16D1X-U and
my internal LG BD-RE WH16NS40 to HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS60-1.03. Both are working on 4k UHD media.

Re: Asus BW-16D1X-U
I have 4 of these drives and flashed the to the `HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS60-1.02-NM00100-211810291936.bin` firmware version (the one for LG 5.25" drives).
This worked fine for most discs, but certain UHD discs seem to have trouble; showing CDB errors: "Error 'Scsi error - ILLEGAL REQUEST:INVALID FIELD IN CDB'".
There could be a number of issues. I made sure to wipe each disc before reading them, but this isn't the same kind of error I see when ripping questionable DVDs, so I'm thinking something else went wrong.
And I get an error trying to write the ASUS firmware on the drives: 0xff05c103. So I'm not sure what to do now.

Re: Asus BW-16D1X-U
Hello All,
Im very new to this community. I have read through a few select threads that are particular to my drive which is the external BW-16D1X-U. I have a few questions. I would like to flash my drive to a firmware that will make it capable of becoming a Libredrive/UHD but I am getting this message in the lower box of the MakeMKV app "Automatic SDF downloading is disabled or failed." I have Xfinity and I dont know how to fix this error in the Xfinity router as I do believe it is a DNS error. I have the "Enable Internet Acecss" in the pref/general selected. I have tried changing Windows to use the Google DNS 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4 and it still gives me the error. Well anyway my question is. Can I still flash my drive with the SDFTool Flasher to downgrade my firmware?
Also, I was going to choose either the ASUS-BW-16D1HT-3.10-WM01601-211901041014 firmware -or- the ASUS-BW-16D1H-U-A204-WM01001-211901041044 firmware mostly because it is from the same maker of my drive. Is there a better of the two? Which one is the better firmware for the Asus BW-16D1X-U?
And one more thing. I would still like to use the features of the drive like M-Disk. Is this possible when downgrading firmware?
Drive Information
OS device name: E:
Manufacturer: ASUS
Product: BW-16D1X-U
Revision: A105
Serial number: ************
Firmware date: 2120-12-02 11:14
Bus encryption flags: 1F
LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: MT1959
No disc inserted
MakeMKV v1.17.4 win(x64-release) started
Downloading latest SDF to C:\Users\*****/.MakeMKV ...
Automatic SDF downloading is disabled or failed.
Please be kind. I am new and I want to learn/set up my drive. Anything that I wrote in error was not to troll or done with malice but written in ignorance. Thank you

Re: Asus BW-16D1X-U
Hello so I am having an issue, I have chosen to flash to HL-DT-ST-BD-RE WH16NS60 revision 1.03 but it says that no disc is inserted when there is, is there a reason that it thinks there is no disc? Thank you for the response.
