You won't get constant spped that high. It may reach 8x speed occasionally but for a lot of the rip, it's between 4x-6x.digitalMedic wrote: Wed Apr 26, 2023 12:10 am Hello all,
Today I realized I never flashed my LG WH16NS40 from its original firmware 1.05 to the LG WH16NS60 1.02 firmware. I was able to rip some of my 4K discs, but others had errors. After flashing, I am getting a read rate of 3.6x-5.4x. How do I get 8x speeds? I used the SDFTool Flasher and it said it was successful. Any insight?
Thanks!

I will update the list soon
A UHD official drive has the necessary hardware to play a UHD disc with official UHD playback software on the very narrow set of hardware and OS versions that allow for that. UHD friendly means it can rip UHD discs but not play them back with official software on supported hardware. If you're intending to use it on Linux, it doesn't matter. There's no official UHD support there. A drive of either variety will work the same for you.user31415 wrote: Wed Apr 26, 2023 7:35 pm Hi, i'm new here, there are many drives to choose from and I don't really know which one to get.
I have some Bluray movies that I want to store on my PC.
Also the list says UHD friendly and UHD official ... what is the difference?
No. If the drive can rip the disc, (you need a UHD capable drive to rip UHD discs), you get all the contents on it.user31415 wrote: Wed Apr 26, 2023 7:35 pm Like do I need a specific drive for Dolby Atmos movies or how does that work?
Thanks for explaining, I ordered the LG BU40N, does it work out of the box or what do I need to do?dcoke22 wrote: Wed Apr 26, 2023 11:01 pmA UHD official drive has the necessary hardware to play a UHD disc with official UHD playback software on the very narrow set of hardware and OS versions that allow for that. The first post in this thread is maintained and contains instructions on how to flash your drive and which firmware to flash your drive to.user31415 wrote: Thu Apr 27, 2023 11:26 am Thanks for explaining, I ordered the LG BU40N, does it work out of the box or what do I need to do?

I have a drive with BP50NB40 and I dont really understand what this is telling me to do so im kind of stuck.
can anyone maybe more elaborately or descriptively explain what i need to do with this command line, or can reference a video or photos of flashing specifically a drive with "BP50NB40" so im not messing up anything?
