LG WH16NS40 firmware flash?

Post by herrste3 »

Hi guys im new to blu rays i purchased the 16NS40 from amazon all ok it came with firm1.05. I was reading different posts recommending different files.Tried MK 16n60 1.02 but gave me issues so I came across this firmware file, on another post. The process settings in image below with SDFTool. I went with the default settings and did not check the encrypted tick. It seems to have done the job. Do not have 4k disc yet but will have coming days to test. 1080 discs work fine so far. Was my process correct did i need to tick the encrypted button or ? Alot of questions i know.
Thanks pictures included

Personally I think WH60NS60 1.03 reads 3-layer discs the best.

Wh16ns40 1.05 is a downgrade in performance In everyway
Over wh16ns60 1.02
Not talking bad about 1.03 but I just don't test it as I don't touch lg or asus desktop drives anymore

I tested 1.03 and found it made zero difference in reading discs over other firmware. These drives still suck for triple layer discs regardless of what magical firmware people think are going to solve all the problems.

Agreed. I also stick with my Pioneer drives instead of the LGs. They just read and don't show any hiccups.

Your drive is too old and will never be able to read UHD. Time for a new drive!!
Cheers :D
