it is a single layer profile 5 dolby vision from streaming services and it's very different from the dual layer dolby vision you find on bluray discs.

you can add external audio by doing this:

MKV:
1-remux the mp4 with mkvtoolnix (add external audio/subs).
2- import the mkv into the latest makemkv and create a new DV mkv..

TS:

use nightly tsmuxer. (you might have to demux the mp4 first)

MP4:

use mp4box to add external audio.
So I've used this method for a while remuxing ENG MKVs with Italian audio tracks, but since when I am getting mixed HDR/DV MKVs I always end up by being able to watch them in HDR only (at least this happens in Plex). :?

What do I have to do to force a "DV only" remuxing and/or get rid also of the HDR informations?

For what it is worth, my comment was a reply to one that was deleted, NOT RESET_9999's messages. It was a mistake because I mistook who wrote a message.
yes, your post really confused me
But it's all good, needed a break anyway. Anyone can still PM me if you have suggestions, bug or questions about my script.
thank you to all for the help and great discussions over the past years.
You deserve a break indeed, thank you very much, true Jedi of DV world.

i'm curious. is reset_9999 the first person in the world that 'cracked' DV? are there more people with this kind of tools on the internet?

quiet_void is the creator of these tools. None of this would be possible without dovi_tool created by him.

Hey Guys, just wanted to check in and see if I miss something here.

I have a philips 65 oled 934 2019 with dv capability. I'm able to playback P5 and P8 mkv through Plex perfectly fine.
However I was also able to playback P7 through Plex til version 8.12.2.22756. Going higher version stops P7 support.
I understand that if I playback P7 files through plex or vimu player the EL will be left out anyway, right?

So my goal is now to mux everything to P8.
My question would be if there's any other downside of using P8 rather than P7 apart from having EL which I can't playback anyway?

It is my understanding that there are two DoVi tools out now that *might* do the HDR removing job?

RESET_9999's quote was about adding audio/subs to dual layer Dolby Vision. As your mkv video data concerns single layer Dolby Vision (BL+RPU), I partly miss out on the connection here.

What makes HDR video is that it's encoded that way. And which you can't just remove with a remux. "Removing" HDR would require tone remapping and reencoding.

Not sure, but possibly you're confusing with HDR10+ metadata, which can be carried by HDR video. Also, HDR10+ can be carried together with RPU. They are both dynamic metadata. A "DV only remux" as I understand it, is stripping HDR10+ from video that also carries RPU. It can be applied as a remedy to a player or tv showing playback issues when offered video holding both HDR10+ and RPU.

As for your mkv, other than bitrate striking me as low, the videodata does look correct for single layer Dolby Vision. Unfamiliar with Plex and your equipment, I wouldn't know why DV isn't working. Hopefully other members can tell you.

RESET_9999's quote was about...
Thanks for your thoroughfull explanation! :)

I've already tried watching the MKV also with Kodi, but it keeps being played into HDR.

I will wait then for posts of other members.

As a general thought, did you already have Dolby Vision working on your equipment? Meaning, are the firmwares (AVR?) up-to-date and - if applicable - is DV enabled in every device settings?

Hello. Does anyone know why the file on left did not trigger DV on LG B1 despite being Profile 8? Only HDR10 was triggered.

After I run DolbyVision script Workflow 1 (and provided 2x the same input file for HDR10 and DV input file) the processed file on right did trigger DV playback.

in my opinion this forum had 3 great contributors:
1 -@Yusesope
2 -@Quietvoid
3 _@RESET_9999
Yusesope we dont know what happened to him. He is Italian like me but I cant trace him in Italy.
Quietvoid does not like to write too much in the forum.
And then RESET_9999 who is carrying the forum forward and almost in solitude.
