Hi,

I searched, but I'm still not sure: would the BDR-212EBK work for ripping UHD discs with LibreDrive? Or is there too much difference with the UBK version(XL vs UHD-friendly)?

Thanks for your help.
not yet but maybe soon but it would need to be flashed

Hello guys,
How do I interpret this info in the LibreDrive section below...it mentions Pioneer instead of Asus. I assume Asus just made the external case and what I have is really a Pioneer drive inside?
It says 'unpatched' so wonder if there is patched firmware for this.

It says your LibreDrive is enabled. No patching necessary. You're already good to go.

I think you had a copy & paste fail on your Sample errors section. :)

Without seeing the errors, I can say that Pioneer drives aren't immune from discs being dirty or damaged.

Yep, copy & paste fail. I updated the post above to show the errors. It is a brand-new disk, never been played before, no damage fresh from the package.

A Pio 209 can't read UHDs so far unless somebody finds a way to enable it via a modded firmware.

Any experiences about how well Pioneer drives (BDR-S12UHT seems to be the flagship?) handle difficult discs? E.g. read errors caused either by surface problems or because of copy protections with deliberately placed bad sectors?

Your drive won't read any UHD discs or just this one particular disc?

I have a Pioneer BDR-212UBK (with the same firmware as yours) in a powered Vantec enclosure and it works well. What sort of enclosure is your Pioneer in? It almost seems like your drive isn't getting enough power.

Got a new Dell XPS13 9310 running Windows 11 and external drive ‎LBD-PVA6U3VBK. The brand is Logitech, which is a Japanese rebrander. It says it is UHD blu ray capable.

It looks like it is a rebranded Pioneer BDR-UD04.

Makemkv says: LibreDrive Information Status: Possible, not yet enabled Drive platform: MT1959

Do you know which libredrive firmware this is?

Well it's not a pioneer it's some sort of LG likely a BU40N or BP60
But the good news is you can also flash that to do UHD but it is definitely not a pioneer.
If you want to risk it I would flash it to BU40N 1.03mk with enc

Thank you for the reply. I downloaded the SDF flasher and all in one firmware pack, and flashed according to the instructions.

The firmware dump created something called
dump_user_Logitec_LBD_USB_Device_LU12_212106211345_MO3LBTF0732.tar

I tried flashing with BU40N from the firmware pack.

Libredrive was not enabled, and makemkv says almost nothing changed. Except, AACS was latest version 68, after the flash it was version 76.

Am I doing it wrong, using the wrong firmware, or is my drive impervious to flashing?
