LG BP50NB40
LG BP50NB40
Hi,
I have an LG BP50NB40 which I have been using to great success using MKV to archive my Blu-Ray collection to a NAS drive in my home. I now like to do the same with my growing 4k Blu-ray discs. I would like to know if it's possible with my drive and if so where can I download the SDFtool flasher and which file is best for my device?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Here are the drive specs from MKV

Re: LG BP50NB40
Thanks for the reply mate, am I correct in saying I need to purchase the SDFtool Flasher?
Also I'm running windows 11 is this an issue?
Cheers

Re: LG BP50NB40
I'm attempting to flash my drive using the SDFTool and I'm running into some issues. There's no BP50NB40 firmware in the DE pack and there's only one fBP50NB40 firmware in the MK pack. The flasher thread linked earlier says this about the drive.
When I try and flash my drive with the MK firmware I get an error message. This post seems to imply that I should be using the BP60NB10 firmware. I assume that means the HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BP60NB10-1.02-NM00800-212005070935.bin in the MK pack. However, this doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere but the one post buried in the thread.
viewtopic.php?f=16&t=22896&p=121153&hil ... 40#p121153
And this post seems to imply that I should be using BU40N firmware.
viewtopic.php?f=16&t=27778&p=121077&hil ... 40#p121077
Can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks.
Is the HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BP50NB40-NB50-1.03-NM00800-212005070917.bin firmware in the MK pack the 1.03-MK mentioned above? What is the SVC: NB52?The latest version of the SDFtool Flasher has a checkbox option to flash the boot loader with the main firmware to the drive. This is useful for the newer BP50NB40 with SVC: NB52. It's also possible that other newer models may require this option later on. We will all work it out together as we go!!
For the moment, to flash the BP50NB40 SVC:NB52, using the latest SDFtool Flasher, follw the steps below:
1. Flash the drive to BP50NB40 1.03-MK.
2. Flash the drive again to BP50NB40 1.03-MK, this time checking the "bootloader" box.

Re: LG BP50NB40
To clarify, the standard steps are to just flash it with HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BP50NB40-NB50-1.03-NM00800-212005070917.bin?
I just tried that and didn't get an error, but I remembered I had left a disc in the drive and removed that first. Not sure if that's what was causing the error previously.
Either that's not the right process or I did something wrong as it's not recognizing my 4k discs.

Re: LG BP50NB40
I did read the guide and the SDF tool. The relevant details are just a bit scattered across all of that.
The step I was missing was this.
Thanks.
The step I was missing was this.
It seems to be working correctly now, but it'll be a while before the rip completes and I know for sure.BP50NB40 to > BP50NB40-NB50-1.03MK then to > BP60NB10 1.02MK or 1.00MK

Re: LG BP50NB40
I successfully flashed my nb50 drive and ended up picking up a second drive for a backup. However, this drive is nb52. I did the first two steps mentioned, but now I can't get the drive to flash anything else. It appears to be stuck at BP50NB40-NB50-1.03MK. I've tried both of the firmware in Marty's link and neither one seems to do anything. The flasher always says that it completes successfully.Billycar11 wrote: ↑Wed May 11, 2022 12:10 amlook at your svc on the bottom if its nb52 do the nb52 steps

NM, I found the step I was missing.
3. Select the RECOVERY option and in the pop up, select the BP50NB40 1.03-MK firmware that you just flashed.
4. Select the BP60NB10 1.00-MK firmware in the normal drop box.
5. Click START
