@nekno I re-created some DoVi mkv from my BD UHD and re-used the tools to create what I did a year ago. As you already know, yusesope tools convert P7 to P8 and mp4muxer slaps on a DoVi P5 header. It seems that is enough to fool Infuse to display DoVi so did my LG E7 internal player !!! So yeah "fake" or "frankenstein" DV P5 file for free.

As far as color space, RPU and all this stuff, I don't know what's happening. It's hard to compare with a movie without knowing the details of what is supposed to be. The test file was 10s so too short. Anyways its fun to learn all these tools (including dovi_tool), thanks to all : )

Have you guys ever come across a Profile 8 (dvhe 08.06) in an UHD Bluray? I thought only Profile 7 was used in these but the German Release of Lamb from Koch Media surprisingly is encoded like that.

I also think UHD BD is supposed to be profile 7 only.

So in makemkv it says "HEVC Main10@L5.1 (dvhe.08.06 BL+RPU)" about the source.

The HEVC File is "Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, dvhe.08.06, BL+RPU, Blu-ray compatible / SMPTE ST 2086, HDR10 compatible" ~ MediaInfo

But they even forgot to set the dvhe flag. I'm guessing that Bluray Players would just fallback to the HDR10 can't test it tho

I've also never seen a commercial uhd bluray being encoded with x265:

it says that on the original M2TS file on the bluray disc?

the (A24 Exclusive) bluray is FEL DV:

Yup that's straight off the Bluray. Great to know that the distributer here completely disregarded the FEL in probably the most unusal way for a bluray release

It should probably be compared to the FEL disc, in the hope that they're the same.

Found this site a while back claiming x264 compliance testing by Criterion, and Warner BD discs encoded with x264, so if true, I guess not a big surprise that x265 would be used in commercial UHD BDs.

More surprising might be doing the encoding on that Mac they had in the editing bay...

Anyone tried the 5.0 fw from Ugoos on am6 b? Wonder how’s the dv playback. I will test it when I have time (currently the unit is somewhere, need to find it lol) .

Do you know where I can download the firmware from?

Would you happen to know if this FW is for Ugoos AM6-b only?

I still have a neglected AM6 Plus with dualboot CoreElec stashed away somewhere.

I don’t have the tools to compare the FEL disc to the Version thats being sold here, but the distributer responded to my email saying the A24 Disc‘s DolbyVision is just "upscaled" to FEL while they wanted to do it in the most "native" way as the Content they received. I wonder why they didn’t go with MEL P7 then but maybe the new way going forward is doing it in P8 now?

The m2ts doesn't have the Dolby Vision descriptor, so MakeMKV probably gets the info from probing the HEVC RPUs.

The Koch Media release doesn't seem right to me. The levels and L1 metadata are pretty different.
It's true that the A24 FEL doesn't make much difference, though.

Also, A24 has 3 trim passes (100, 600, 1000) while Koch Media only has one for 100 nits, and it's almost useless (max 2050 adjustment, where 2048 is no adjustment).
So I don't know what they're on about but the two aren't going to be the same at all in Dolby Vision playback.

Some funny thing is that the HDR10 is encoded with this:
Maximum Content Light Level : 420 cd/m2
Maximum Frame-Average Light Level : 69 cd/m2
Seems like a mess of an authoring job here, or a joke. The L1 is consistently over 600 nits, with a 1477 nits peak.
Koch Media also has L5 set to zero, when there are letterbox bars.

great analysis as usual @quietvoid ... I need to try to understand your vs-nlq script (assuming that's what you used to check FEL)...
