I was looking at [url=https://club.myce.com/t/pioneer-bdr-212 ... k/405781/9]this post/url] and I'm pretty sure that it is UHD friendly.

Looking at the product page https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA ... BDR-212UBK it says that it is Ultra HD Ready.

It would seem the EBK version is not https://pioneer-blurayodd.eu/products/b ... /index.php

and the DBK version (the shitty one I only seem to be able to find in Australia) can't even do XL discs https://pioneer-blurayodd.eu/products/b ... /index.php
no it not UHD friendly

yeah UHD ready for official playback only with intel igpu and sgx

I guess then because I want to burn my own data only, I'll buy a Pioneer as they are good for that.

If for some reason my life changes and I need to rip UHDs I'll just buy another drive that isn't Pioneer.

I'm sure as hell not going to buy a new computer just to use Cyberlink's crappy software. I haven't used it since like 2002, so not sure if it is any better these days, but based on this Newegg review I think it is not. https://www.newegg.com/d/profile/review ... s3eTF0dz09

It's one of the best burners if you still burn discs. Keep it for that. Get a LG for reading.

This is what I was looking for myself. I was considering this drive for watching 4K Blu-Rays and a WH16NS60 or BU40N for ripping them. Though... I upgraded my CPU from a 10700K to a 11700K.... not knowing until just yesterday that 11th gen dropped SGX support....

Regardless, I am mostly going to use the drive to read CDs, DVDs, and Blu-Rays (Data and non-4K movies) and to burn CDs and DVDs. So would you say this would be the best drive in terms of quality if you just want to read and write disks, not rip UHD disks?

I thought the BDR-212UBK doesn't have any firmware that lets it rip UHD disks yet?

I know the BU40N and WH16NS60 can, I meant in regards to the BDR-212UBK, since I want to get that drive for it's supposed quality in regards to everything except ripping UHDs.

Hello Billycar11, I purchased a BDR-211UBK drive, is there any chance this drive will be supported with libredrive? Any estimate if this will happen ?
