Hey everyone,
yesterday I tried several times to copy Sicario 2 from a UHD Blu ray to my hard drive with makemkv. Unfortunately I kept getting a Read error (http://makemkv.com/errors/read/). Since I only have one UHD drive (LG BH16NS55), I could not test it further. Now I'm thinking about buying a second drive, but don't know if it makes sense?
Are these drives still recommended and what are the differences when used with Makemkv?
- WH16NS60
- WH14NS40
- WH16NS40
Where is the difference between UHD Official and UHD Friendly.
I had also described other problems with Blu rays in this thread earlier this year:

I hope to get help here.

Get a BU40N in my experience it has the least read issues but don't expect miracles on scratched discs
All those other drives are the same don't get another desktop drive

A UHD Official drive is one that, assuming your hardware meets all the other requirements, could be used to play a UHD right off the disc with official player software. The list of requirement is long and the requirements are a PITA.
A UHD Friendly drive is one that, with updated firmware, can be made to rip UHDs with MakeMKV. They won't, however, work in official player setups.
Most people here don't need UHD Official… it just comes down to drive availability and price.
