Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
I keep a DL P7 mp4 and a SL P8 mp4 inline together in Plex just so that I have DV7, HDR10 and/or DV8 all already available depending on the local device's playback capability
Sucks having to keep 2 versions of each movie space wise (why I encode my digital copies' base HDR10 layer to 45mbps - I find this quality still alright over streaming 4K and I have the physical disc still for first watching and 1:1 hard copy backup if I ever need it), but it makes it the easiest for broad playback support

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Hi all,
i have a problem with one specific DV video the x700 won't play.
Its a SAW (2004) remux, taken the video from the US UHD and the german DTS HD MA blu-ray audio source.
Mediainfo
As always using ts-muxer converting mkv to ts.
This time with activated DV the x700 doesn't play the movie. With DV off the movie played fine in HDR10.
I have no problem playing DV for this types of "selfmade remux" before, for example Donnie Darko has no issues at all.
So whats the problem with SAW and is there anything i can do, onvert DV Profil, FEL to MEL, single track to dual track?
Thanks.

I wonder is it possible (in theory) to generate a dynamic RPU based on data from MadVR MadmeasureHDR Optimizer tool?quietvoid wrote: ↑Sun Aug 08, 2021 5:40 amYou can now generate RPU metadata in v0.4.0, see documentation: https://github.com/quietvoid/dovi_tool/ ... nerator.md
You can find it here: https://github.com/quietvoid/dovi_tool/ ... /tag/0.4.0

What about content that is graded for dv
& includes the (DV-meta-XML adjustments) but of course does not have an Rpu is that possible?
Eg.Dv master file with xml.
For those who don’t have the dv encoding tools to build an Rpu tru sdi.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Well yes, the RPU is usually generated from the XML.
I just don't personally have a usecase for it, talked about it here: https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php? ... ost1949650

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
yep, some single-track dual-layer movies won't play on the x700. This is why it's better to use the dual-track dual-layer format because every single movie will work. Nothing i hate more than getting ready to watch a movie just to realize it doesnt play...
So you have two options:
1, demux with yusesope tool and rebuild a new DT-DL TS.
or
2, Get the original disc and remux a new DT-DL TS.

That would help the grading community, quietvoid wrote: ↑Sun Aug 15, 2021 9:09 pmWell yes, the RPU is usually generated from the XML.

For those guys like myself 4k,6k,8k cameras
And do their own grading without doblyvision license fees
No secondary trim pass doe.
To my knowledge the doblyvision fees are only for secondary trim passes/Rpu creation & final encode of the doblyvision master to hevc

Ok, not sure when I'll get around to it.Manixx2020beyound wrote: ↑Sun Aug 15, 2021 10:00 pmThat would help the grading community,

I always keep temp color at warm 2 and motion offgalarond wrote: ↑Sun Aug 15, 2021 4:12 ami think i know what are you seeing...loldeadchip12 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 11:00 pmVery hard to describe what I see. It can't be captured on camera either. Need to watch the oled in a pitch dark room and then you will see such pattern. I have owned the c7, c8, and c9; all have this issue. It drives me nuts. I remember one guy on avsforum posted about the same thing a while ago but most people didn't notice it on their sets so they ignored his post.
i had that issue in my lg b6 when used a blueish color temperature and full motion like 10/10, then in some black scenes appears a white worm for some places lol, fixed with a standard warm50(2) and no motion, overall a standard recommended configuration, the lines started to appear when tried cold color or vivid configurations plus motion 10/10 and 10/10

Why dont you remux mel p7 to bluray folder structure also? That will avoid all the bugs, no?RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 15, 2021 3:06 pmYou can convert dual-layer profile 7 mel uhd bluray to single layer profile 8. You don't lose any quality and there's a benefit in doing that when you use a sony x700 bluray player.
P8 is actually the profile I use for all the MEL DV bluray because the x700 doesnt have the green screen bug with profile 8.
so here's how I watch DV movies on the x700
FEL P7 : remuxed to AVCHD bluray folder structure
MEL P7: converted to single layer profile 8 TS
*ts p8 playback will still have seeking issues with long movies and no automatic forced subtitles though.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Because the seeking issue with long movies is very rare so it bothers me less than having to make a bluray folder and keep only one at the root of the HDD.deadchip12 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 16, 2021 1:41 pmWhy dont you remux mel p7 to bluray folder structure also? That will avoid all the bugs, no?
Of course for long movies (MEL) like LOTR/hobbits, I still use bluray folders for playback but for 95% of the mel movies, P8 TS works just fine without any issue. Plus I prefer to store my movies in my NAS in TS or MKV containers.
Forced subs is not a problem at all for me since I can easily find any subtitle track in SRT when I make my DV TS file.
I wish the shield didn't have color issues though(or that the ugoos was stable) because that is what I would use for mel DV. Dune and Zidoo player looks interesting but very expensive since I would only use for mel.

Awesome. Option 1 using this guide worked like a charm.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 15, 2021 9:42 pmyep, some single-track dual-layer movies won't play on the x700. MP4 = no atmos nor dts-hd, no subtitle support at all and some dual-layer mp4 won't work or will freeze while every single dual-layer bluray folder or TS will work.
and you can have more than one movie on your HDD. you just have to separate them into folders and move the movie folder you want to watch in the root.

This is with X700, correct?RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 17, 2021 8:02 pmMP4 = no atmos nor dts-hd, no subtitle support at all and some dual-layer mp4 won't work or will freeze while every single dual-layer bluray folder or TS will work.
