Hello everyone,
I've read about core audio and I'm very lost.
I have a video which have
DTS-HD MA Surround 5.1 English
- DTS Surround 5.1 English - Flag Core Audio
Once extracted, the MKV file have 2 audio track. My understanding is that it should only have 1 track? Do I need to check both of them or will I go missing part of audio if I don't check the core audio? I have this with either 5.1/7.1 audio with 5.1 core with DTS and Dolby. I'm unsure what I'm suppose to select to have the whole soundtrack when playback. I do have a 7.1 home theater.
Thank you
Core Audio
Re: Core Audio
For some codecs, like DTS-HD MA, MakeMKV will create a second track with just the lossy core audio in it, for compatibility purposes.

Re: Core Audio
Ok, so it is not needed if I want only the full DTS-HD or TrueHD Atmos track?
Re: Core Audio
Correct. The way they work is you have the lossy core, and additional data to replace the "lost bits". Players that don't support the loss-less playback ignore that data. In Theory.
Not all players handle that well. If your player does, there is no need to keep the separate track.
