Dolby vision
Lldv Dolby Vision
Always on Dolby Vision
And you have “Dolby vision enable” turned on correct? Not LLDV.
Yes
Thanks. I also cannot play MKV with DV through the inbuilt player with LLDV. It works with modified Kodi. I wonder how others have it working on inbuilt player..
Edit: I’ve been told inbuilt player only supports DV with MP4. Not sure if this is correct, haven’t tried MP4 yet

Just ripped 1917 and after a little choppiness in the begining playback has been flawless.

I'm not able to trigger DV with mkv container on plex/ugoos... is there a special build that I need to sideload like Kodi?
I'm also getting 2.0 audio only...

For fun, I checked LLDV vs TV-LED and they both look pretty much the same to me(no big difference as Vincent showed on the oppo). I only checked one movie, one scene, so maybe the difference is not the same from one movie to another ?

Interesting..
If you check the CPU usage between TV led and player led is there much difference?

Check "Eagle" scene from SM UHD HDR Benchmark (around 6:34 time mark)
Pay attention to beak color

Gives your description, I think you might be transcoding. If Plex doesn’t think your system can handle the native audio, it will direct play the video and transcode the audio, which totally breaks DV. I spent half a day on this once on my Shield because ... I connected BT headphones and this issue broke my DV.

Tried a full movie last night on the Mininx/Ugoos - They live.

I did a straight rip with Makemkv and the FEL presentation and Atmos surround was a delight, really good.

Bugs... after about 10 minutes I had a screen resynch but the movie recovered, then again about 52 mins I had a resynch but after that it was slightly glitchy (frame skips) so I paused the movie and started it again and it was fine till the end of the movie.

On pressing stop it didn’t unload back to the Kodi interface (best guess Dolby decoder froze, seen this on other devices) until I long pressed the power button (idk).

Overall this is the device, if the manufacturers can officially support this project we will have a winner

Hey that Player works really very well. I have some stuttering when I select a Dolby Atmos soundtrack, but that's doesn't really matter to me because I don't have a Atmos sound system.
Thanks for the tip :!:

It sure seems to affect more the scenes where FEL adds a lot to the image and I guess FEL doesn't add much to the MI scene that I compared last night because there's indeed a noticeable difference in certain scenes of the SM disc. Especially the red flower frames where it's very noticeable. But not much different on some other scenes like in the Eagle one though. lldv seem to be slightly more saturated/darker.

thank you. I'll check the audio settings in plex. I use the same plex server on the shield and there's is no audio transcoding
DV works with ts and mp4 files though.

EDIT:

yes, that's the problem. My DV MKVs have Atmos audio and plex try to transcode(because there is no ac3 core in truehd /mkv) so DV doesn't work indeed. If I select an AC3 track before playing the movie then DV is triggered. I'm still getting 2.0channel even though plex says direct play and as I said, same plex server on my pc that works with the shield.
DV works much better on plex... i hope they add lossless support there

One other thing I noticed, DO NOT fast forward/rewind or skip through the movie because it unsync the FEL. You don't really see it in the movie but every time you skip to the ending of Power Rangers, there is visible fel ghosting.
same behavior on plex and kodi ... no problem on the x700

Similar observations.
But I guess if spares was originaly done in p5
There would probably be no diff.
Can u do a true p5 LLDV vs p5 rgb-8dv comparison?
I don’t think Vincent tested p5 actual file I know he tested streaming vs uhd disc.

this is not UGOOS related but I just learned that if you remux DV to bluray folder structure with tsMuxer and you put the files in the root of an USB drive, the Sony x700 is able to play it in dolby vision with chapters, working FF RW for long movies and no more green screen bug when you stop playback.
I'm trying this out and got an unknown USB device error. In tsMuxer do you choose to output it as blu-ray folder or AVCHD folder? And do you leave the M2TS file in the BDMV\STREAM folder or put the M2TS file in the root directory of the USB drive? Thanks for any extra guidance with this, I'm excited to get this working.
