ICY BOX IB-550StU3S + ASUS BW-16D1HT

Hello. I got the ICY Box and Asus bw 16 drive as above. Time to time windows loses connection to it and complaines that the usb drive is not reconized by windows and makemkv goes nuts and so. So i just unplug the usb cable and it's fine until next time. I checked all cable. Suggestions?

Does the drive disappear during a rip? Is it powered via USB or by an external power supply? It is possible that MakeMKV can push the drive hard enough to need more power than a typical USB port can provide.
