Can't rip BD AACS82, MakeMKV Supported: FALSE help (solved!)

Post by TerriblewithIT »

Hi,

I'm not sure if I'm doing this right, but I've been using MakeMKV for several years, and this is the first time I've been unable to rip a Japanese Blu-ray. I'm using MakeMKV v1.18.1 and downloaded KeyDB_Helper_1.0.0.2.

First, The following is what I see in MakeMKV if I have the disc inserted:

Disc Information
Label: M_MORIARTY_RECOLLECTION_DISC1
Timestamp: 2025-02-28 20:47:36
Protection: AACS v82
Data capacity: 20.35 Gb
Disc type: BD-ROM
Number of layers: 1
Channel bit length: 74,5 nm (25.0 GB max. per layer)

The log then states:
MakeMKV v1.18.1 win(x64-release) started
Using direct disc access mode
Loaded content hash table, will verify integrity of M2TS files.
This disc uses newer version of AACS protection. Please let us know about it by visiting(...)
Saved AACS dump file as (...)
The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted
Failed to open disc

----------------
Due to how I couldn't open the disc, I tried looking for alternative solutions that would help me deal with the volume key, and it's to my understanding I had to get the most updated KEYDB.cfg file, so I installed the KeyDB_Helper tools.

I presume I ran FindVUK.exe successfully since I saw the following:

02:13:15 - Successfully posted to the OnlineDB! >
Preconditions fulfilled - process upload now
Detected BlurayMetaXML - DiscId >C30F599CF623E6787686F3C0389E7659D03243B3<
Upload written to database!
Upload successfully added as NEW Meta entry!
<
02:13:15 - Successful upload to OnlineDB
02:13:15 - Eject the disc now from drive >F:\<

02:13:17 - Successfully ejected the media in drive F!

----------------

After running FINDVUK.exe and getting a KEYDB.cfg file, I then ran KeyDB_Helper.exe and clicking the "Disc Info" button the following text was produced:

Getting disc info...
----------
[DiscID]: 0xC30F599CF623E6787686F3C0389E7659D03243B3

[MKB]: 82
[MakeMKV SUPPORTED]: FALSE

----------

Prior to generating a keydb entry, I've also sent a copy of the dump file to svq@makemkv.com, which I've attached to this message since that's what I believe I'm supposed to do for AACS v82 encrypted Blu-rays that won't rip.

In any case, since I have a message that states "[MakeMKV SUPPORTED]: FALSE" does this mean that there's nothing I can do to rip the Blu-ray?

I'd greatly appreciate someone's advise on what I can do to rip it since I want a softcopy of the disc to play on my laptop (it plays on a normal Blu-ray player just fine).

(Additionally, this disc came as part of a set of two, but oddly enough, I was able to rip the second disc without problems.)

I don't know why Makemkv can't decrypt, but I created my own, private tool and I able to calculate vuk. Check this:

Title: M_MORIARTY_RECOLLECTION_DISC1

There's no point sharing your RDK, and not just because this disk doesn't enable bus encryption. This RDK is specific to both this disk and to your particular drive. Put this exact same disk into a different drive and the RDK will change.

I know about it and that's why I changed the RDK to zeros.

Mike has said that for a while at least you still have to submit dumps for AACS v82.

Thank you so much for the response. I honestly wasn't sure if that was all I had to do since I couldn't find anything about "[MakeMKV SUPPORTED]: FALSE".

BTW,when I run findvuk.exe this is what comes up:
ERROR! Cannot find (supported) DVDfab Passkey, DVDfab Mediaplayer or DVDfab!

I didn't even manage to rip any of the morimyu-bd's.

Do you have one of those DVDFab products installed?
Cheers :D
