Ripping "The Blue Lagoon" German BluRay Disc (Die Blaue Lagune) - 100+ Options in MakeMKV

Post by no_name22 »

Hello, first time poster, hoping to get some help.

I have been ripping UHD/BluRay discs for a few weeks now and have finally encountered a disc with playlist obfuscation and can't seem to figure it out. I have looked through all the different forums and sites to see if anyone has ripped this disc before but because it is the German release, I assume there's less posts about it and is harder to find.

On top of that, I have tried all sorts of different methods found on the forums here as well as reddit but can't seem to figure out which file is the correct one. Really hoping someone can help me narrow them down, or that someone has been in the same boat and knows which is the correct file.

If all else fails, I'll have to sift through over 100 different versions of the file to find the correct one lol. Also, I have a BluRay version of the film downloaded from a P2P site that I can compare this remux and its' segments to, but unfortunately this BluRay file does not have the same runtime as any of the available remux options.

Hope this is the correct place to ask this and hope this isn't a dumb question! Thankful for any and all help!

Check the segment maps and attached audio and subtitle tracks from each version. If they are identical you can rip just one and that's it.

If they differ only in the attached audio tracks, search for the one with the tracks you want.
Or if you want multiple or even all tracks make an decrypted disc backup and merge the segments with makemkv manually (should contain everything except chapters).

If the segment map is different, you have to make a full disc backup and check whats different between the different segments.
If the disc doesn't contain different versions of the movie (Theatrical vs Extended/Director's Cut etc.) it's most likely different Credits for different languages.
Use the preferred segments and merge them in the correct order with makemkv.

With the linked chapters feature it's also possible to create a file that works like seamless branching on Blu-rays with all different segments in one file.
