Hello.
I'm using Linux Mint 22.1, have an external 4K Blu-ray UltraHD payer by LG.
I'm trying to Rip MCU's "Hawkeye" season 1.
I'm getting error messages. Specifically....
LibreDrive compatible drive is required to open this disc - video can't be decrypted.
Failed to open disc
and (multiple of these illegal request lines."
Error 'Scsi error - ILLEGAL REQUEST:COPY PROTECTION KEY EXCHANGE FAILURE - KEY NOT ESTABLISHED' occurred while issuing SCSI command AD010..080002400 to device 'SG:dev_21:2'
Can't read AACS VID from disc - most likely current AACS host certificate is revoked by your drive
The last 4k disc i tried went off w/o a hitch.
Is there anything I can do, or should I just break down and buy the DVD version too, if it can be found.
Thanks
Unable to Rip 4K Blu-ray
Re: Unable to Rip 4K Blu-ray
You need to flash the drive's firmware to make it LibreDrive-compatible. MakeMKV's "Info" window probably says that LibreDrive is currenly disabled.Riker7323 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 11, 2026 3:11 pmLibreDrive compatible drive is required to open this disc - video can't be decrypted.

Can you post the contents of MakeMKV's "Info" window please? You should probably redact your drive's serial number though.
The alternative to using LibreDrive would be to obtain a valid AACSv2 host certificate from AACS-LA. I don't know what you would need to do to achieve this, but I suspect it would include sacrificing your first-born at some point...
