Hello Everyone,asmcom wrote: ↑Sat Aug 23, 2025 10:56 amHello Everyone,
Unfortunately I am back in hospital with a serious infection and have had surgery 2 days ago. So just letting everyone know that we felt it was better to take the website down as I am not fit to stand or get out of bed with my illness. We of course will support all our customers and have a team of volunteers to help with any ongoing support issues.
We did have a strange ebay return today from a eBay customer who started a return for a Archgon drive saying the model we sent him was not a UHD model. Their exact words was:
"I ordered MD-8107S-U3, which rips 4K DVD movies. The item sent is the MD-8107-U3, which is not compatible with MakeMKV or DBFav software"
To clarify the model number we sent was as follows:
MD-8107S-U3YC-UHDB-S ( This is actually the UHD Silver Model) on Firmware 1-00DE.
The black model part number is MD-8107S-U3YC-UHDB-K
So the customer started a return for a non UHD model even those we request all customer to contact us if there is an issue instead of starting a return. As any of our customers know on this forum we only sell models that support UHD discs.
If you are the eBay customer and you happen to see this post please send us a PM or email and we will tell you what you are obviously doing wrong.
Sorry we had to close the website down. We still have Pioneer drives, Slot Loaders, Top Loaders and Tray loading drives.
Regards
Asmcom
We’ve now been in touch with the customer who ordered an Archgon MD-8107S-UHD to use with their MacBook Pro running macOS Tahoe. As many of you will know, this isn’t an ideal match without a powered USB hub. In this case, a Pioneer BDR-XS07TS would have been a much better choice.
I’ve already replied to the customer, and they will be returning the Archgon to us. I’m confident it would still work fine with a powered hub or one of our PCs, but we agreed that a different model would suit their setup better and they could not manage to power the drive up with a USB C Cable, we suspect using a drive with this model without a powered hub is not ideal.
Note to new customers:
If you’re unsure which drive will work best with your system, feel free to email us at uhdfriendlydrives@gmail.com and we’ll be happy to recommend the most suitable option for your setup.
We’ve now fully responded to the customer, and this case will now be on the way to being resolved.

Hi ???????,
No problem at all. I’ll make sure the team doesn’t open your parcel when it arrives. I’ll personally record a video of me opening your drive, connecting it to my Mac Studio Ultra 3 or Mac Pro, and showing you the test results.
You are of course entitled to our 30-day money-back guarantee, which we will fully honour. I’m sorry I can’t test this right now or offer remote access, as I’m not at home. Please package the drive securely and return it, and once we receive it complete with packaging, we’ll issue your full refund.
For your setup, had you asked us beforehand, we would have recommended the Pioneer BDR-XS07TS. It’s extremely reliable and works flawlessly with the MacBook Pro.
Below is an example of the Pioneer drive in action with a Mac Pro 5.1:
