I just registered to detail my experiences with Asmcom.

I bought a MakeMKV license some time ago, as I had decided to migrate my entire collection from *.iso to *.mkv (because there is nothing that can play *.iso files from a server, at least not to my standards). This was quite some endeavour, but I finally completed it last month. And then I thought that I also need be able to rip my UHD BD. I searched the forum, read the flashing thread and a lot of other information. After that, I decided that I didn't have the time and patience anymore to source the hardware and give the flashing a try and maybe end up with a bricked drive...

So, I contacted Asmcom on Sunday evening and asked for recommendations. On Monday morning I was greeted by a very friendly e-mail with tons of helpful information. 2.5h and a few e-mails later everything was settled and agreed upon. In the evening I had further information, the tracking ID for the package, and also my shipping had been upgraded! And today already I received the package. Everything was well-packed and very nice looking.

The drive (Pioneer BDR-UD04 with firmware 1.14, item #13) was recognized instantly, and it is really quiet and also unbelievably fast! Just for testing, I decided to rip using AnyDVD HD (to *.iso). This was completed in less than an hour ("The Big Lebowski", 4K UHD with HDR10, 20th anniversary edition, a little over 60GB). Compared to my other ripping drives, this is a completely different ballpark. For DVD, I have an old but reliable Optiarc AD-7710H (slim, internal). This is really slow, but reads almost all DVD. For BD, I have a Toshiba/Samsung SN-406AB (slim, external USB 3.0). This one is faster, but it still takes more than an hour for a BD (and it is less reliable for DVD than the Optiarc). So, I was pleasantly surprised by the Pioneer's performance. Mounting the *.iso with Virtual CloneDrive, I converted it to *.mkv with MakeMKV. Neither AnyDVD HD nor MakeMKV encountered a single error or issue during the process.

Overall, this was one brilliant transaction and experience, from start (very nice and helpful communication) to finish (a product working exactly as advertised)! I cannot recommend this seller enough, I wouldn't hesitate a second to buy from Asmcom again!
