Unable to revert to factory firmware. Error 0x82052400
Unable to revert to factory firmware. Error 0x82052400
I've an internal LG/Asus, HL-DT-ST_BD-RE, WH16NS40, and it had firmware 1.02 on it.
Was doing some CD dumping for redump, and flashed to ASUS-BW-16D1HT-3.10 for that effort, and all was successful.
Reverting for now, but I am unable to. When selecting my original firmware, with enc on or off, I get Error 0x82052400.
I saw this topic viewtopic.php?t=24503 and I was able to "downgrade" to MK 1.05, but unable to get back to OEM 1.02.
MK 1.03 also works, but got Error 0x82062900 despite it's success, as mentioned here viewtopic.php?f=16&t=22896&p=138110
Anyway to get back to OEM 1.02? Or should I just stay on MK 1.03 as in theory nothing is different and it should be better anyway? I guess MK doesn't have a 1.02. Other firmware suggestions?

Where is the OEM 1.02 firmware from?? If not from one of our firmware packs, it probably isn't downgrade enabled. Try flashing the DE WH16NS40 1.02 firmware from my firmware pack (bottom of this post): viewtopic.php?p=94848#p94848SephYuyX wrote: ↑Tue Jun 03, 2025 12:38 amI've an internal LG/Asus, HL-DT-ST_BD-RE, WH16NS40, and it had firmware 1.02 on it.

Don't use ENC as the firmware on your drive is not encrypted.

Re: Unable to revert to factory firmware. Error 0x82052400
I did a restore of the OEM firmware before flashing with the MK version. So I was trying to restore that OEM backup. Is that not possible?MartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Tue Jun 03, 2025 12:44 amWhere is the OEM 1.02 firmware from?? If not from one of our firmware packs, it probably isn't downgrade enabled. If not, is there a real difference in the MK versions of 1.02 vs 1.03 vs 1.04 vs 1.05? Which would be the rec?
Re: Unable to revert to factory firmware. Error 0x82052400
Oh, I did use your "All you need" pack (to get back to 1.03), but it did not have 1.02 in it. Unless it's in a different pack?MartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Tue Jun 03, 2025 12:44 amWhere is the OEM 1.02 firmware from?? If not from one of our firmware packs, it probably isn't downgrade enabled. My firmware pack does not have a WH16NS40 1.03 firmware file but does contain 1.02. The file name is: DE_LG_WH16NS40-NS50_1.02. This is the original 1.02 firmware for the WH16NS40 SVC NS50 drive.SephYuyX wrote: ↑Tue Jun 03, 2025 1:42 amOh, I did use your "All you need" pack (to get back to 1.03), but it did not have 1.02 in it. Apologies. I thought I was looking at the same packs. I was using the "mk-firmware-pack-20200720" for the latest and older firmware. I do see the 1.02 in your pack.MartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Tue Jun 03, 2025 1:59 amMy firmware pack does not have a WH16NS40 1.03 firmware file but does contain 1.02. That being said. Is there a recommendation? I know it probably really doesn't matter. But when perusing around I keep seeing mention of people mentioning to use the older versions as the newer ones were causing issues?
I am not actively ripping right now, so I am just using it as a normal RW CD/DVD/BD drive and want to revert to as close as possible to OEM to avoid (if any) issues. But does it matter? Are there any real differences? OEM vs cracked? If I am unable to revert back to my OEM 1.02 backup - Which of these would be the best to use? "DE_LG_WH16NS40-NS50_1.02", or 1.03, 1.04, or 1.05 from the MK "HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS40-NS50" firmware?

The earlier versions are better but there should be no reason why you can't flash it back to the original 1.02.SephYuyX wrote: ↑Tue Jun 03, 2025 2:17 amApologies. Also, I wouldn't go flashing it too many times either. There's a limit (unknown exactly) to how many times a drive can be flashed. I know this because I had a drive that was used for testing purposes that after a bunch of flashes would no longer accept any more flashes.
The MK firmware has some small changes which simply allows MakeMKV to load libredrive into the drive's memory and enable it. Once you either power off the drive or exit MakeMKV, libredrive should be gone until the next time you open the drive with MakeMKV again.
Cheers

That's quite interesting. I would have never guessed there was a limit on the number of flashes. Do you think it's more or less than 20, or?MartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Tue Jun 03, 2025 2:27 amThe earlier versions are better but there should be no reason why you can't flash it back to the original 1.02.SephYuyX wrote: ↑Tue Jun 03, 2025 2:17 amApologies. I'm happy to try something to get the OEM working if you have any thoughts. Any which way I try to WRITE, it immediately errors on "Sending flash image to drive".

It shouldn't error when going from a MK firmware back to the original 1.02.SephYuyX wrote: ↑Tue Jun 03, 2025 2:07 pmThat's quite interesting. You can just leave it on 1.03-MK or you could flash it to WH16NS60 1.02-MK which is the recommended firmware for the WH16NS40 anyway, as it reads faster and removes the sleep bug.
