Hi,
I read that it makes sense to have two different drives to have a chance to cover all the discs one wants to rip in case 1st drive cannot handle some.
I bought some time ago Hitachi LG-BH16NS40 Cross-flashed to a WH16NS60 on firmware 1-02mk but it does not read all disks.
Which other drive would be a good companion to hopefully cover between all discs
ASUS or BU40N (on 1.03 FW) or something else on different firmware?
Thank you

Re: Which 2nd UHD drive to get to cover discs which 1st cannot rip
Thanks for your reply.
I saw them but they refer to faulty drives and have really nothing to do with my goal and situation.
My LG is working fine but some discs it will not stomach. I am looking for 2nd drive to cover those. My 1st drive is not failing.
Hope this explanation will attract your know-how on the subject.
Thanks for posting anyway.

I have BU40N in external enclosure and BH16NS55 (w/ WH16NS60 1.02MK) in PC tower. Seems like a good combination .
LG BH16NS55 (w/ WH16NS60 1.02MK) in external enclosure
LG BU40N (1.03MK) in external enclosure
Verbatim #43888 (Pioneer BDR-UD04 FW1.14)

I use a BH16NS55 on it's original 1.02 and a BP50NB40 cross-flashed to BP60NB10 1.00-MK. This is also a good combo. I also have a WH16NS60 on 1.00 that I hardly ever use (maybe 1/2 dozen times!) but it's just a 3rd option if I ever need it...
Cheers

A very good combination indeed. The BH16NS55 Cross-flashed to WH16NS60 1.02MK is fantastic when combined with the OWC. Also the BU40N is good second drive.
Good choice you made.
Kind Regards

Hard to beat the BH16NS55 Marty, this really is a fantastic drive. BP60 and BP55 very good. Hope all is good with you.MartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Tue Apr 13, 2021 11:50 pmI use a BH16NS55 on it's original 1.02 and a BP50NB40 cross-flashed to BP60NB10 1.00-MK. This is also a good combo.
