Hello! I'm new to this forum, so excuse my ignorance. I just got a new Pioneer drive off of Amazon that I can't find mentioned anywhere on this site. Anyone know if this Pioneer BDR-WX01DMU can unlock LibreDrive and rip UHD?

Drive Information
OS device name: /dev/rdisk5
Current profile: BD-ROM
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-WX1DM
Revision: 1.01
Serial number: ...
Firmware date: 2023-10-27
Bus encryption flags: 13
Highest AACS version: 77

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: Pioneer RS8801
Firmware version: ID36

I sent this info to the MakeMKV support email, but I'm not sure exactly who gets those email? Thanks for any help!

No it cannot. The issue is the firmware is post 11/2022 and is therefore not updatable for libredrive or UHD.
Cheers :D

Gotcha, thank you Marty! I was actually just reading about that a little while ago. I also came across your posts listing UHD friendly drives for sale. Do you ship to the US?

Hello guys

Please can anybody tell me what is the difference or how the drive differs one from another when one drive identifies platform as RS8E20 and other as SAT 8E20 ? That RS vs SAT prefix.

Do anyone know the difference? Thanks!

No difference. The prefix doesn't matter. Some show it as SAT, some as RS.

This should work out of the box on firmware 1.01. Just put a disc in, and it should work.

Thank you for the rapid reply, and I confess I don't exactly have many UHD discs to test with, but with The Matrix, I get 'no disc' from MakeMKV. If it's my ignorance of needing to do something different, I'm happy to be educated! The disc is recognised by a Verbatim 43888 (BU40 version).
