Beautiful walkthrough. It worked for me exactly as you so clearly laid out. I created an account just to tell you this is perfect!

I can now rip my 4K UHD Blurays! Yay!

Because the latest firmware versions SUCK!!!! Really, the latest versions are NOT BETTER in any way.

Download the zip below - open the flasher tool. Select the folder with the arrow in it and select the firmware that says 3.10 in the title. Flash it. Restart. Then flash the second firmware in it - which has the correct model name in it and is UHD friendly courtesy of our genius friends here in the forums.

Does this mean the downgrading is complete after flashing the second firmware (WH16NS40-NS50-1.03) on it or do you recommend to then downgrade further and flash either WH16NS40_1.02_NS50 or WH16NS60 1.02MK on it?
I have not fully understood if the second firmware "only" restores the capability to further downgrade or contains a 1.03 MK version which concludes the downgrading.

"Recommended Firmware to flash for MakeMKV:
WH16NS60 > WH16NS60 1.02MK
WH14NS40 > WH16NS60 1.02MK

Know this is the older thread but was looking into libredrive, and enabling...

Why do the newer versions suck? Specific behavior, error, or performance?

Would like to be informed to avoid potential issues in the future.

For anyone looking - I read through pages and pages of forum posts to bring you this one simple and easily understood set of paragraphs - I bought an LG WH16NS40 with 1.04 firmware on it, and rented two 4k blu-rays. The drive would not even recognize the disc was present after spinning up.
Long story short -

Download the zip below - open the flasher tool. Select the folder with the arrow in it and select the firmware that says 3.10 in the title. Flash it. Restart. Then flash the second firmware in it - which has the correct model name in it and is UHD friendly courtesy of our genius friends here in the forums. Thank you, you all have helped greatly.

As my comment stated, it has already been updated to 3.10 an ASUS 16D1HT. Please respond if you know how I can change the firmware. The link you provided does not work, looks like the URL got botched somehow.

If thats a thread that will flash my ASUS back to a diff firmware to recover, great.
