Cant rip my 4k Blade Runner 2049 disk despite LibreDrive enabled and MakeMKV connected to Servers (Verbatim 43888)
Hey,
basically the title. My Drive is a Verbatim 43888 so it can play 4k content. Also, I am on Ubuntu 23.10 and on MakeMKV 1.17.6.
If I try to rip the disk I get a bunch of Scsi errors and the following error messages:
Can't read AACS VID from disc - most likely current AACS host certificate is revoked by your drive
Saved AACS dump file as /home...
LibreDrive compatible drive is required to open this disc - video can't be decrypted.

My guess is that you have a "new" release of this particular movie that no-one has tried to rip before. You might need to email that dump file to svq@makemkv.com and wait for it to be processed...
Curious though - you have a VID-related problem with a UHD disk on Linux using a Verbatim 43888....

sounds like the drive is rebooting give it more power

Knowing what the SCSI error messages are might help. I have ripped a UHD disk using a Verbatim 43888 using only "USB bus power", and so I won't assume that these drives are inherently power-hungry.
Re: Cant rip my 4k Blade Runner 2049 disk despite LibreDrive enabled and MakeMKV connected to Servers (Verbatim 43888)
Yes, these 43888 drives ARE power hungry. Some ports might not provide enough power. If they do - consider yourself lucky.

Well, I certainly don't put the USB HDD I'm ripping the UHD to on the same bus as the Verbatim I'm ripping from. But we're still just speculating based on the information given.
I am also conscious of this issue, which also concerns a Verbatim 43888 on Linux:

I now have good reason to believe that LibreDrive is not reporting the correct VID for UHD disks when using a Verbatim 43888 drive, at least as far as MakeMKV 1.17.6 is concerned .
Re: Cant rip my 4k Blade Runner 2049 disk despite LibreDrive enabled and MakeMKV connected to Servers (Verbatim 43888)
I can confirm that it is probably a Linux problem. I just tried it on my Mac with MakeMKV 1.17.6 and it works flawlessly.I am also conscious of this issue, which also concerns a Verbatim 43888 on Linux
Also I think the power is not a problem I dont have any external drives connected to my PC so it should have gotten enough power. I tried switching to a different port with no success.sounds like the drive is rebooting give it more power
Thank you guys for the replies!

To be fair, "Blade Runner 2049" was one of the first UHD disks I ever ripped, and I also used a Verbatim 43888 on Linux. The only difference was that I used MakeMKV 1.17.5 .
Can you tell me what running this command on your disk says please?
Code: Select all
$ sha1sum AACS/Unit_Key_RO.inf

This drive is power hungry. Use a powered USB hubuser0123 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 7:52 pmI can confirm that it is probably a Linux problem. I just tried it on my Mac with MakeMKV 1.17.6 and it works flawlessly.I am also conscious of this issue, which also concerns a Verbatim 43888 on Linux
