LG WP50NBO svc NB52 wont flash

#1 Post by freeness » Sat Aug 02, 2025 3:11 am

Thanks for anyhelp
I have a new LG WP50NB40 external USB drive.

I follow the instructions on the lastest flasher tool . But the device doesn't seem to flash

D: HL-DT-ST_BD-RE_WP50NB40_1.03_212005070929_SIM2221D95719

Everything i try doesn't flash the drive, its says its been done, but the orginal is still int place .
Even tried with the bootloader.
In short everytime it finshes with no errors but always the flash tool is showing that the firmware is still the same
trided to include the bootloader. still the same.

The Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide suggests that flashing your drive is a two-step process.

Follow the very simple guide for NB52 exactly. There's even a gif!! If you aren't sure which firmware to select in each window, read the file selection dialog box title!

follwed the instructions again and still makeMK doesn't recorgonise 4k discs

First write the boot

For the moment, to flash the BP50NB40 SVC:NB52, My drive using the latest SDFtool Flasher, follw the steps below:

1. Flash the drive to BP50NB40 (NB50) 1.03-MK...............my drive is WP50NB40 SVC NB52
Now for the crossflash:

2. Select the RECOVERY option and in the pop up, select the BP50NB40 (NB50) 1.03-MK firmware that you just flashed.
3. Select the BP60NB10 1.00-MK or BU40N 1.00 firmware in the normal drop box.
4. Click START

How do i confirm step one has actually worked, the bar at the bottom says completed succefully, move onto step 2 and do emergency flash whch also says completed but successdell

In the drop down from the tool. my same name is in place after the first flah update and the name never changes through both steps.

Thanks for any help as i have followed the gui

You are obviously not following the instructions precisely otherwise it would have worked. Nowhere does the SDFtool Flasher instructions say to use the BOOT. The "include Boot loader?" is never needed and should always remain unchecked.

When you first begin, the GUI will show a green tick for both drive platform and encrypted firmware.

After you have completed step 1 successfully, you will see a green tick for drive platform and a red X for encrypted firmware. That's what the first flash to BP50NB40 NB50 1.03-MK (or WP50NB40 NB50 1.03-MK) does. It removes the firmware encryption.

When you begin step 2 and select RECOVER DRIVE, a popup window will appear. In this window, you select the exact same firmware you just flashed in step 1. Now in the normal firmware selection drop down box, you select BU40N 1.00 and press START.
Cheers :D

Step 1
Ok so the first part is working as I do now have
One green tick for drive platform.
One red X for encrypted firmware.

Step 2
Recover drive
In the popup window I Selected the same software used in step 1(this is the part I was doing wrong I thought the popup window was for the flash software.. I did wonder why I had to select it again. Maybe next version of code can autoselect that.. lol)
and select BU40N 1.00 in the drop down.

Works perfectly. Thanks again.

The title of the popup window tells you what to select.
