Are Pioneer Drives not going to fit?

#1 Post by Swazirs » Tue Jun 20, 2023 4:20 pm

I was looking into this drive:
https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA ... BDR-S13UBK

Which says here:

https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX00123256

At the bottom of the page:

****
Fitment Notice:
The Pioneer BDR-S13UBK Internal BD / DVD / CD Writer's larger than usual front dimensions may not fit some 5.25 inch drive slots, meaning this drive may not fit in your Case.

Please confirm the dimensions of your Case's 5.25 inch drive slot(s) before purchasing this Pioneer Drive.

Drive Dimensions: 148 x 42.3 x 181mm / 5-13/16 x 1-21/32 x 7-1/8 inches

And this is the drive I am currently using: the GGW-H20L:

My case is the
Carbide Series 200R
CC-9011023-WW
https://www.corsair.com/br/pt/p/pc-case ... 9011023-ww

While this LG fits, what I can't tell is if this Pioneer drive will.

And this isn't the only Pioneer BD drive that has these dimensions, from what I can tell.

Is there a way to find out? I checked a less expensive Pioneer model, the BDR-212DBK, and it seems the size is almost the same:

https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA ... BDR-212DBK

DIMENSIONS:
148 mm x 42.3 mm x 180 mm (W x H x D)

Note: I already asked Corsair about it, and they didn't give me a conclusive answer.

My Pioneer drive (BDR-212UBK) is the same width and height as my LG drive. It is longer, however, than my LG. I doubt you'd have much trouble putting in that computer case.

I have a Pioneer and Asus drive together in one case which has v similar dimensions to the Carbide. The Pioneer is about 2 cm longer than the Asus. The main thing I have noticed is that it is difficult to plug the 24 pin motherboard cable in if the optical drive is inserted just due to the chunky size of that cable and its limited bendability. Once that is inserted and tucked away properly, the amount of space is fine for inserting the sata cables into the back of the optical drives.
Also since you have 3 possible places you could insert the optical drive, if cables are a tight fit with the pioneer then just try one of the other slots. Since everyone's motherboard and cables are slightly differently organised, it may not be an issue at all on your pc.

Vantec DX2 will work. We have these enclosures in stock.
