Yeah you’re right.
I flashed the driver with Terminal (macOS) successfully but the firmware didn’t update. Doh, I have a newer version (1.18.2) makeMKV.
Any idea when I can flash it? No rush.
Have a good day

Did you use enc in your command?
Cheers :D

You can flash it now, even with current MakeMKV - just gotta get the command line correct... And no disc in the drive during flash. Then power cycle (remove all connections to USB drive) after flash.

Enc?
I followed the instruction for macOS.

Ah okay, I will try that tomorrow. If I have a problem , could I paste the terminal here?

"enc" refers to the command line option for encryption. It's required if the drive has encrypted firmware on it. This is not specific to macOS.

You could also use UTM or a trial version of Parallels, install an unlicensed Windows (Microsoft allows this for so many days) & flash using the SDFtool.exe, on macOS.

Thanks,
Frank

Hello
I used the enc command and flashed the BD-RE BU40N into 1.03 using this command

Code: Select all

./makemkvcon f -d '/IOBDServices/22DCDDE3' -f /tmp/sdf.bin rawflash enc -i /tmp/HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-1.03-NM00000-211810241934.bin
Drive Information
OS device name: /dev/rdisk6
Current profile: BD-ROM
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Product: BD-RE BU40N
Revision: 1.03
Serial number: MOBP6IF0044
Firmware date: 2118-10-24 19:34
Bus encryption flags: 17
Highest AACS version: 82

LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: MT1959
Firmware type: Patched (microcode access re-enabled)
Firmware version: 1.03
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes

I tested it with DVD, BLURAY and they work.
Can’t read UHD BLURAY.
Can't read AACS VID from disc - most likely current AACS host certificate is revoked by your drive
Downloading latest HK to /Users/bxxxxx/Library/MakeMKV ...
Saved AACS dump file as /Users/bxxxx/Library/MakeMKV/MKB20_v77_A_Nightmare_on_Elm_Street_410F.tgz
LibreDrive compatible drive is required to open this disc - video can't be decrypted.
Failed to open disc
.
Not my UHD ripper but I’m so curious why it’s happening.

Thanks y’all for pointing me to a right direction
