So, figured it was time to flash the drive and see how it all does after that.

Which firmware should I flash to this drive, and after the initial flash due to encryption, should I flash to a newer firmware?

The recommended firmware for your drive is WH16NS60 1.02-MK. Just the flash it and you are all good.
