BU40N + Silverstone TS14B enclosure, drive eject button won’t work but works with different enclosure
I used to the included USB cable, plugged each USB-a connector into my macbook but it won't eject using the eject button on the BU40N. If I use a 3.5" external hdd usb2.0 enclosure the eject button works fine but the reason I wanted the TS14B so it's a neat enclosure to protect the drive inside of instead of having a mess of cables. Is this normal behavior for the TS14B and BU40N or do I have a defective unit/cable/improper power from my computer?

Sounds like not enough power from your macbook?
Can you confirm that with your BU40N in the TS14B, you can rip discs OK?

I ripped multiple discs and they seem to play without issues. One exception though was disc 1 of "The Craft" 4k uhd where I got the error "Backup done but 1 files failed hash check." Not sure if that's related to a power issue? But I extracted an MKV from the rip and it seemed to play fine.

Part of the blu-ray and UHD specification is to include some hash tables for all the content on the disc. In oversimplified terms, the small amount of hash table data allows MakeMKV to verify the data that the optical drive read on the disc is what is expected. Since MakeMKV does this, you can know (if MakeMKV completes without any errors) that what MakeMKV has copied from the optical disc is a 'perfect' copy.dialogueravenous wrote: ↑Sat Apr 11, 2026 6:10 pmI ripped multiple discs and they seem to play without issues. If one or more files fails a hash check then the data that was copied is not a perfect copy. If you're making a backup, which is copying the entire disc, it is possible for a hash check error to be in a file you don't care about. Perhaps the FBI/Interpol warning had the error or maybe a preview for another movie. If MakeMKV produces .mkv files from your backup without any errors you can be confident the file produced is a faithful copy of what's on the optical disc.
The most common reason for a hash check error is that the optical disc is dirty or damaged but there's a wide variety of possible root causes including the drive not getting enough power.
