Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2025
Hello, I'm trying to rip some UHD Blu-rays and I'm stuck on a persistent issue with my drive.
My goal is to flash my LG BP60NB10 drive to enable LibreDrive and rip UHD discs.
My Setup:
Drive Model: HL-DT-ST BD-RE BP60NB10
Firmware Version: 1.02 (Original)
Operating System: macOS
Tool: makemkvcon via Terminal
The Problem:
I have successfully flashed my drive multiple times. Each time, the terminal output shows Done successfully, confirming that the flashing process has completed.
However, when I check the drive information in MakeMKV, it still reports Firmware support: No and Firmware type: Original. The drive consistently fails to enter LibreDrive mode.
What I have tried so far:
Multiple Firmware Files: I have tried flashing with different firmware files, including those labeled as UHD-friendly and MK firmware from the forums.
Disconnect/Reconnect: After each successful flash, I have completely unplugged the drive from my Mac and plugged it back in.
Drive Identifier: I have verified the correct drive identifier using makemkvcon f -l before each flashing attempt.
Dump File Submission: I submitted a dump file to the forum, but was told it was useless because LibreDrive was not activated.
I am puzzled as to why my drive's firmware status remains "Original" despite the successful flashes. Am I missing a crucial step for macOS? Is there a specific firmware file for this drive model that I should be using? Or could this be a hardware-related issue?
