I followed this youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyQV1aPlbow&t=222s
Flashed my Asus BW-16D1HT to 3.10, it said 100% Finished and just stayed there. (never moved on to "Done Successfully") So I'm assuming it didnt' go 100% according to plan.
I did not use "enc" because it was not listed as an encrypted firmware from what I could tell.
Now the drive just says "Boot" in MakeMKV and the light continually flashes, drive won't open or close.
Anyway I can re-flash or reset somehow?
Asus BW-16D1HT : Stuck in Boot Mode
Re: Asus BW-16D1HT : Stuck in Boot Mode
Well.. I figured out the issue. The drive was manufactured in 2013. Doh! It was purchased second hand from a guy who said he bought it in 2019. I guess I shouldn't have taken his word for it and looked at the date on the drive. (it was in a computer case that I bought)
Any way to covert this back to original or is it borked for good?

Sounds to me that you flashed a MT-1939 drive. Old technical platform. I think it's electronic waste.
You can try it with the DOS flash solution but this is no fun and needs some older technical requirements..... described here..... viewtopic.php?f=16&t=19634

Re: Asus BW-16D1HT : Stuck in Boot Mode
Thanks for the inf zittrig. Unfortunately I can't find any DOS flashing info in the link you provided.
Has anyone brought one of these older Asus drives out of boot mode before?

Re: Asus BW-16D1HT : Stuck in Boot Mode
It is down near the bottom in a section titled "only use the recovery steps for older NS40 drives!!:"
There's a link to a video in there too.
It is probably also important to know an Asus BW-16D1HT drive is really an LG drive on the inside. Asus doesn't make their own drives; they're rebadged LG drives.

Re: Asus BW-16D1HT : Stuck in Boot Mode
Thank you! I didn't know it was an NS40 drive...
Re: Asus BW-16D1HT : Stuck in Boot Mode
Alright, well I was able to recover the drive by booting into WinPE and using Dosflash to restore WH16NS60 1.01 firmware via the guide/youtube vid.
The drive now functions properly and reads standard Blurays/DVDs. (Woot!)
Next question: Is it possible to flash to a UHD compatible firmware with a 2013 NS40 based Asus drive? The guide linked above states 2015 and newer so I'm thinking no?
