Search on Amazon for Verbatim 43888. But beware it is power hungry and if you have issues with your laptop's ports buy a powered USB hub.FrancisBlack79 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2024 1:05 pmThanks for the reply Coopervid
Fairly new to the 'UHD friendly drive' scene so still learning!
Basically I'm looking for a drive that I can rip CD's, Blu-Rays and UHD Discs for backup with a high success rate but struggling to find what would be best to buy here in the U.K. The drive itself would be connected to a HP Omen Laptop running Windows 11, any advice would be appreciated or if anyone could point me in the right direction that would be great.
Thanks again

I have found a link to the drive on amazon, I assume this is the one you mean?
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Verbatim-Exter ... B07MTP9VKX
I take it this drive wouldn't need flashing and works out of the box?
My laptop does have issues occasionally with one of the usb ports, but I also have a usb c thunderbolt connection on my laptop if that could be used?
With regards to a powered USB hub would you recommend something like this off Amazon:-
https://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-LINK-UH700- ... 102&sr=8-3
Thanks again for all your help

Yes, that's the drive. It should come with a USB cable and USB-C adapter.FrancisBlack79 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2024 8:43 pmMany thanks Coopervid for the advice.Coopervid wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2024 7:03 pmSearch on Amazon for Verbatim 43888. If you use a USB-C port you should be fine without a hub.
I'm not sure about that hub but it's been suggested previously that a high powered hub (minimum of 35w) be used.
Cheers

I have ordered the drive today through Amazon so will try it with my USB C thunderbolt connection and see how I get on, if I have problems I will order me one of these powered usb hubs:-

Thank you both for your help, I will post here to let you know how I get on

Re: ASUS BW-16D1X-U - Flashable?
I have the same drive as OP (at least as far as MakeMKV is concerned):
Drive Information
OS device name: /dev/rdisk4
Current profile: BD-ROM
Manufacturer: ASUS
Product: BW-16D1X-U
Revision: E111
Serial number: [redacted]
Firmware date: 2017-12-21
Bus encryption flags: 1B
Highest AACS version: 72
LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: RS8601
Firmware name: PIONEER BDR-209
Firmware type: Original (unpatched)
Firmware version: E111/ID76
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes
I'm confident that I can do the process without an autoscript, but need to know which firmware will work with this device. It seems that this is typically answered via DM.
Thanks

You have a PM and need a Windows PC for it to work.gibsondj wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2024 1:33 amI have the same drive as OP (at least as far as MakeMKV is concerned):
