The latest
KEYDB.cfg file contains these entries:
Code: Select all
0x3EAD35E54C8528372DBEEBADA45ABCFE876E931B = BAD_BOYS_RIDE_OR_DIE (Bad Boys: Ride or Die - 4K Ultra HD) | D | 2024-07-26
0xCE6A6E1E20299F68EEBE28AB0CC0D6F8DCFEA1A0 = BAD_BOYS_RIDE_OR_DIE (Bad Boys: Ride or Die - 4K Ultra HD) | D | 2024-07-10
Does copying this file into MakeMKV's data directory (i.e. where MakeMKV also writes its TGZ dump files) and restarting MakeMKV help?

Nope, downloaded the file, copied to the directory and restarted MakeMKV. Failed to open the disc.

For Mac and Linux, the file also needs
literally to be named KEYDB.cfg rather than keydb.cfg, because their file systems are case-sensitive.
Hopefully, KEYDB will gain some more entries for this title over the next few days. I see there's a third entry now already:
Code: Select all
0x5564815CF41A9D645683974232FEEDD919A25F9A = BAD_BOYS_RIDE_OR_DIE (Bad Boys: Ride or Die - 4K Ultra HD) | D | 2024-07-26

I'm on windows, where do I manually add these lines or find/add the latest key?
I searched my C drive for keydb.cfg and it found two KEYDB.CFG files, one in appdata\roaming\aacs and another in programdata\aacs. I added the two lines provided in this thread to both files, saved, restarted makemkv and get the same result. The folder (users\my name\.MakeMKV) with the dumps only shows the dumps where the disc failed to open if that matters.

The KEYDB lines posted to this forum have all of their keys removed
deliberately, because I don't think this forum is an appropriate place for such things. You'll need to copy the entire latest
KEYDB.cfg file into MakeMKV's data directory (which is where MakeMKV also writes its TGZ dump files) and then restart MakeMKV. And then try decrypting your disk again.
The KEYDB.cfg file is updated frequently, and so old copies on your hard drive are unlikely to contain the entries you need. However, the copy in appdata\roaming\aacs suggests to me that you
might also have FindVUK.exe installed. In which case, you could execute
to bring your local copy up-to-date. And
then copy the updated KEYDB.cfg file into MakeMKV's data directory.

Hello,
into which folder must the KEYDB.cfg be copied under Windows? Which folder exactly is the MakeMKV data folder under Windows? There are no .tgz files on my Windows system.

By default, the MakeMKV folder should be in:
C:\Users\[username]\.MakeMKV
(replace [username] with your local Windows user name)

Sorry for a newbie question as well: I downloaded the latest KEYDB file and placed it in my MakeMKV directory, but how do I extract the exact file for Bad Boys (the one starting with MKB20)? Or do I even need to find that exact file? I'm on a Mac, if that makes a difference.

You
don't extract the MKB20_xxx.tgz file. You just copy the latest
KEYDB.cfg into MakeMKV's data directory and then start MakeMKV. Seeing as you are a Mac user, the file must be
literally be called KEYDB.cfg and not (say) keydb.cfg, because the MacOS file system is case-sensitive.
The point is that KEYDB.cfg is a alternative public database containing the known BluRay keys which MakeMKV is able to read, should MakeMKV's own private "hashed keys" database not contain your disk.
