Have you enabled LibreDrive for your UHD drive? These messages suggest that this TGZ dump file was generated without LibreDrive:

Code: Select all

002004:0000 Error 'Scsi error - ILLEGAL REQUEST:COPY PROTECTION KEY EXCHANGE FAILURE - KEY NOT PRESENT' occurred while issuing SCSI command A30..0020..03F to device 'SPTI:\Device\CdRom0'

003306:0000 Can't read AACS VID from disc - most likely current AACS host certificate is revoked by your drive
If this is a new UHD drive then I suspect you will need to flash its firmware first.

It appears to be a dump created using a BU40N with 1.03-MK firmware but for some reason libredrive wasn't enabled for this session.

@idjitdragon, please ensure libredrive is enabled and recreate the dump. Once you have done that, please email the dump to svq@makemkv.com and upload it again here so it may also be added to the KeyDB.
Cheers :D

As far as I can tell Libre drive is enabled

I've tried 6 or 7 times; a couple of times it couldn't open the disc, others have error messages as per the dump, once it started to decrpyt then failed but I haven't been able to get a new dump file

It appears that MakeMKV can decrypt the disc but you seem to have power issues and probably a dirty disc. The drive is struggling so hard to read a section of the disc it is running out of power and losing connection.

First thing you must do is CLEAN THE DISC!!! This is very important, especially when brand new as they often have an invisible film on them from the manufacturing process.

Then ensure the drive is getting enough power. Use USB-C if possible as it can supply more power than USB-A. Also, use ports direct from the motherboard or use a self powered USB hub (30w+). If the drive has a USB y-cable, ensure both plugs are connected.

Also, you might be better off doing a full disc backup first. To do this, don't click the big drive icon, click the little folder icon up in the top menu then ensure the decrypt checkbox is checked. Once completed, you will have the entire disc backed up to a decrypted folder. You can then open the index.bdmv file inside the decrypted folder with MakeMKV and create a movie MKV file.
Cheers :D

Wow, sorry about the images being so big  . Thanks for your feedback, I'll give that a try

Ok, so 10th or 11th time's a charm, it finally ripped. I gave the disc a good clean after attempt number 9 but it still took a couple of goes. :D

Can I also just say that this has been the most helpful and welcoming forum that I have engaged in, so a big thank you to everyone who has tried to help and guide me - it is great;ly appreciated.

PS - Not that it probably matters any more, but I tried to upload the discatt.dat file but it wouldn't allow the file type. I've changed the extension to TGZ so that I can upload but I'm not sure if that corrupts the data in the file?

Cheers

Nope, that discatt file is no good.

To get a valid one, you should start a full disc backup (little folder icon in menu) and uncheck the decrypt box. Once the backup starts, wait about 20 seconds then cancel it. You should then hopefully have a valid discatt.dat file along with the MKB_RO.inf file and the Unit_Key_RO.inf file in the AACS directory.
Cheers :D

Hi, this discatt.dat file is not corrupt, but it still doesn't contain any useful information :(. This really shouldn't happen with a BU40N UHD drive.
