Dump Submitted The Wicker Man

#1 Post by ukconfederate » Thu Feb 06, 2025 6:07 pm

MKB20_v70_The_Wicker_Man_-_Disc_1_6081

I downloaded the latest KEYDB.cfg but this didn't work either.

It's only disc 1 of the 2 disc set that doesn't work, the one with The Final Cut on it.

In order for your disc to be added to the public keydb, you would probably need to provide the disc dump file either as an attachment or a link to a file host. Please note that disc dumps from LG/Asus drives are the preferred option for this purpose.

If the disc dump produced by MakeMKV is a 'partial' dump (smaller than 1MB), you would also need to zip up and include the AACS folder from the disc.

Thank you for your reply.

Here's the link to the MakeMKV MKB20_v70_The_Wicker_Man_-_Disc_1_6081 Dump tgz file (File generated from an ASUS DVD Drive).

Here's the link to the AACS zip file as the dump file is less than a MB.

Hopefully this will help.

Thanks for following my instructions. Unfortunately, neither of your links can be downloaded. Could you please enable public access to those two Google Drive links?

This is now sorted and should be downloadable.
My apologies for this, I completely forgot about giving the download permission.

Your disc is in the keydb with disc id

Code: Select all

0xACBA001EF328E8FFFEAF5A6FAC9C1B434FFC56F5
if you're on windows you can use my tool to sync the keydb. Found here: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=16883&p=166510#p166510

Hi,

Sadly, this hasn't helped, I still get the "The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted. Failed to open disc" and then produces the tgz dump file.

I have downloaded the latest KEYDB.cfg file, when that didn't work I then followed the instructions to download and use the software you linked to. It downloaded and installed the keydb file again but alas, it still will not work.

Thank you for taking the time to help me though.

Run findvuk's validatedisc command on that disc then.

Code: Select all

findvuk.exe /ValidateDisc /Drive=X
Replace X with the drive letter for the disc.

Unfortunately that didn't work either.

I've attached a screenshot of shot the info it produced.

Odd... Does your new TGZ dump file contain a file called kv.dat? And if so, how big is it? In your original TGZ dump file, the kv.dat was only 68 bytes long, which is suspiciously small.

You also need to add this setting to your FindVUK.ini file:

Code: Select all

Disable_Bus_Encryption_Cmd = "C:\Program Files (x86)\MakeMKV\makemkvcon.exe" info dev:$DRIVE$
Assuming that is where you have installed MakeMKV.

I added the above line to the .ini file which allowed more information to be produced which I've quoted below.
Unfortunately, the disc still won't copy.

That's to be expected. Can you see the size of the kv.dat file inside this new TGZ dump file?

This means that the KEYDB entry for your disk has now been proved to be correct. I can only assume that the KEYDB.cfg file inside your MakeMKV data directory (which is where MakeMKV also writes its TGZ dump files) has not been updated. Note that you also need to restart MakeMKV after updating the KEYDB.cfg file.

I have the latest KEYDB.cgf file in the folder where the TGZ dump files are written to. I even restarted my PC and changed to my backup DVD drive too (different make), but it still continues to fail.

Thanks again for everyone trying to help me. I just don't know what I'm doing wrong with this disc, first one that's stumped me.

I don't know. My tool definitely puts the keydb in the proper folder as it reads the registry value for MakeMKV's data directory to find it. It doesn't "guess". I've never had a disc that has a keydb entry with a VUK not work in MakeMKV.
