Hey rpu master,
long shot.... could it be possible to modify the rpu and allow my x700/oppo to play cropped DV content properly (without the grey black bars)?
thank's

Hey rpu master,

I don't really understand, normally setting the active area offsets to 0 (with "crop": true) allows for cropped video playback.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 21, 2021 12:06 amHey rpu master,

No, some don't have black bars.
This is confusing me. How do you have raised black bars when the content has no black bars?RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 21, 2021 3:21 amI was just looking for maybe a way to play the appleTV p5 web-dl (no black bars) on the x700/oppo without having the raised black bars. Sounds like bluray players just can't play properly cropped DV content.
I see, thank you

***of course, you adjust the hdr10 static metadata according to your source.
That's really weird. Never seen that with the Firestick nor internal player when playing cropped video, so it might be a bug with the UHD BD players...
yes, as the documentation says, bluray players expect black bars for the subtitles.
Ah, thank you. I did a bit of Googling about profile 8.1 on Apple TV and couldn't find anything. I tried the Dolby profile 8.1 sample video playing through Infuse on Apple TV 4K and it plays as HDR10 for me. I know it's not possible to losslessly convert profile 7 to 5 because of the different color spaces, but I'm hoping that re-encoding the whole video stream would work?RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 21, 2021 9:26 pmAFAIK, it's not possible to encode to from profile 7 to 5 yet but you can encode to profile 8. I think I read some weeks ago in this thread that the appleTV now supports this profile ?

mulucy wrote: ↑Thu Jul 22, 2021 11:54 pmI am not sure what the deal is. But my Apple TV 4K ( the previous Gen ) plays P7 MEL and P8 with Plex. What's interesting is, Plex plays P5 files with messed-up green or purple colors lol. Infuse Pro falls back to HDR10 with all profiles, but P5. Anybody knows what's happening, is it Plex magic or has Apple added more support via software update?
Plex on Apple TV does some fakery unfortunately, so it isn't real profile 7 or profile 8 support. It switches the TV to DV mode, but is actually just playing the HDR10 version.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 22, 2021 1:46 ammulucy wrote: ↑Thu Jul 22, 2021 11:54 pm

If the appletv is set to 4k SDR with Dynamic Range Match on and it triggers DV, i don't think it's fake DV. Could be easily tested with the files in this post:FubbAyH wrote: ↑Sun Aug 22, 2021 2:06 amPlex on Apple TV does some fakery unfortunately, so it isn't real profile 7 or profile 8 support. That's exactly how I have my gen2 Apple TV 4K setup and my HDFury confirms that Infuse plays DV (P8 & 5) back correctly.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 22, 2021 2:44 amIf the appletv is set to 4k SDR with Dynamic Range Match on and it triggers DV, i don't think it's fake DV. I don't use Plex but if Infuse works as expected and Plex doesn't then I'd have to assume the issue is Plex (or possibly not having 4K SDR with match DR set on the Apple TV as RESET_9999 mentioned above).FubbAyH wrote: ↑Sun Aug 22, 2021 2:06 amPlex on Apple TV does some fakery unfortunately, so it isn't real profile 7 or profile 8 support.
