sounds like your TV only support LLDV (player-led)bedders wrote: ↑Thu Mar 18, 2021 9:29 pmFor those with Ugoos or Minix with Ugoos 0.40 firmware, what options are you seeing in Dolby Vision display settings?
I only get:
- Dolby vision enable with low latency (YUV)
- Dolby vision disable
And Always on toggle
The reference to “low latency” makes me think it is player led not TV led. I have Panasonic GZ1000
on my old Vizio TV (doesn't support lldv):
-Dolby Vision enable
-dolby vision disable
-always on
on my LG OLED TV:
-Dolby Vision enable
-Dolby vision enable with low latency (YUV)

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
It looks like the best options to contact Ugoos is support@ugoos.net, eugene@ugoos.net, and @UgoosLtd Twitter handle. I can certainly reach out, but what do we need to ask them to do technically? I think I have a grasp, but someone else should put words in my mouth to get the best result I think lol

Thanks for confirming. I’m pretty confident my Panasonic supports TV led DV so I’m not sure why it’s not detecting correctly. I’ve tried different cables directly connected to TV as well as through AV receiver.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 18, 2021 10:28 pmsounds like your TV only support LLDV (player-led)bedders wrote: ↑Thu Mar 18, 2021 9:29 pmFor those with Ugoos or Minix with Ugoos 0.40 firmware, what options are you seeing in Dolby Vision display settings?

At least with LLDV, you don't have to bother turning off DV for HDR10/SDR content like we have to do for TV-LED DV. I just checked LLDV on my LG TV and I'm getting 12bits in all modes.

True.. but I think TV led should be better for DV.
Anyone got a Ugoos or Minix connected to a Panasonic OLED who can check their Dolby Vision settings??

Great, thanks for the test. So basically the problem as I understand it is:RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 18, 2021 9:47 pmGood news, both HDR10 and SDR modes are accurate in 12bits on the UGOOS. HDR10: https://slow.pics/c/n4HSSEyU
SDR: https://slow.pics/c/XGv9WNjm
Strange that SDR in 8bit 444 is not accurate because my HTPC and x700 are both accurate in 8bit or 12bit.
With TV-led Dolby Vision turned on, the output is currently forced to:
- SDR: 8-bit YCbCr444
- HDR10: 8-bit YCbCr444
- DV: 8-bit RGB
- SDR: 12-bit YCbCr422
- HDR10: 12-bit YCbCr422
- DV: 8-bit RGB
I'm not even sure why when TV-led Dolby Vision is turned on, SDR and HDR10 are forced to 8-bit YCbCr444, since when DV is activated it switches to 8-bit RGB anyway. Force DV always on seems to be working as intended and outputs everything in 8-bit RGB.

Sorry late to the party, received the Mininx and flashed the Ugoos firmware LATE last night, are we saying choosing TV-Led processing causes incorrect colours with HDR10 and SDR?
Why is that even a thing? TV led processing should only affect Dolby Vision, does HDR10 not pass through?

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Yes, for some reason that's how it turns out. With DV off, you can choose the combination of output bit depth and chroma, and RESET_9999 has tested SDR/HDR10 content and found that at 12-bit 422 the output is accurate and at 8-bit 444 it's slightly inaccurate (other output bit depth/chroma combinations e.g. 10-bit 420 might also be accurate, we just don't have test results for those).DaMacFunkin wrote: ↑Fri Mar 19, 2021 7:21 amSorry late to the party, received the Mininx and flashed the Ugoos firmware LATE last night, are we saying choosing TV-Led processing causes incorrect colours with HDR10 and SDR?

However, with TV-led DV on, for some reason SDR and HDR10 content is forcibly output at 8-bit YCbCr444, and you can't change the bit depth and chroma. HDR10 metadata still passes through, it's just that the output colour depth is 8-bit, and strangely even SDR content also has slightly incorrect colours. It doesn't really make any sense why SDR/HDR10 content is forced to be output at 8-bit YCbCr444, because when DV content is played, it changes to output 8-bit RGB anyway.
With LLDV on, all content (SDR/HDR10/DV) is locked to output at 12-bit YCbCr422. This is correct for LLDV content and (coincidentally?) SDR/HDR10 content too.
Without further information it seems like a bug or oversight, because it doesn't seem like there's any good reason to restrict the output bit depth/chroma for SDR/HDR10 content when TV-led DV is on (of course, DV content should still be restricted to 8-bit RGB). It should be easy for Ugoos to fix it. In the meantime, we can switch TV-led DV on and off to get the most accurate colours.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
I should have said that this device is the best android device in terms of capabilities but definitely not for stability. Especially when you are used to the stability of the x700 and an HTPC.
Once you start changing the colorspace settings, the device becomes very very buggy(i have not really tested plex).
Sometimes:
- DV gives a black screen, rebooting fixes that,
- DV just won't trigger DV: it even tonemap profile5 to HDR10
- HDR10 trigger HDR but without any metadata: just 12bits 422 bt2020, nothing more.
I don't see how someone would use this device without an hdfury device to tell if your current mode is the right one.
profile 7 is also VERY unstable (freeze, stutter, tv goes black, audio dropout), sometimes you have to start the movie 4times before it plays correctly. Profile 5 seems stable.
Hopefully, things get better with future updates but as for right now, I will still use my x700.
