Failed to open disc

Post by cycdzz »

I tried copying these two discs, but it keeps saying “The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted
Failed to open disc”. I've already downloaded the public keystore and put it in the makemkv folder, but it didn't work. (This is my first time using this software,So please point out any problems with my operation. Thank you.)
The following is a link to the AACS dump file generated by the software.

Regular blu-rays that use the latest version of encryption, AACS v82, have to be handled similar to 4K UHDs and slightly differently than regular blu-rays with older versions of encryption.

MakeMKV supports two different disc decryption mechanisms. The built-in mechanism is called hashed keys and it works with all dumps from MakeMKV. When there is not a key for you disc and MakeMKV produces a dump, email that dump to svq@makemkv.com. Eventually a hashed key will be produced and MakeMKV will automatically download it as needed.

The other source for decryption keys is the public keyDB. MakeMKV does not install or update these keys automatically. The first post in the Public KeyDB Disc Submissions thread includes a template and instructions on how to submit dumps for inclusion in the keyDB. It also has links to where the keyDB can be downloaded, utilities to help keep it updated, and where to put the file so MakeMKV can use it.

These two ways to decrypt discs can be used together. If you can submit a dump to the keyDB you can also email it to svq@makemkv.com. Accidental duplicates emailed to MakeMKV aren't a big deal but duplicates submitted to the keyDB should be avoided if possible.

Thanks for these. Can you also upload the AACS/MKB_RO.inf files from your physical UHD disks please? The copies of both these files inside your TGZ dumps have been truncated to only 56 bytes, which makes them unusable to anyone except MakeMKV itself.

I'm assuming this is the MKB_RO.inf file for "Weathering With You". And can you also provide the MKB_RO.inf file for your "君の名は" / "Your Name" disk please?

I'm really sorry, I am traveling and don't have my computer and discs with me. Can I upload them a week later? Thank you very much for your previous help!
Also, may I ask what issues are indicated in the file I have already uploaded? (I just want to know if this problem can be resolved; if it's too early to draw a conclusion, please forgive me.)

You will notice that both AACS/MKB_RO.inf files in your Google Drive folders are only 56 bytes long, which means that MakeMKV has truncated them. The actual MKB_RO.inf file on the "Weathering With You" UHD disk is 5MB.
