Okay, I'm lost...

I downloaded the new keydb.cfg (2026-01-16 19:08:37), but MakeMKV still says the disc is unknown - and now, the dump file name has changed to MKB_v82_28_Years_Later_B0CD (last letter changed).

Grepping the file for the string "MKB_v82_28_Years_Later_B0CC" finds nothing. The DiscID (5ea38005be385f5be9fdcea618c3485eb0f762b8) is in the file, but with another title (Peking Opera Blues UHD).

Oh, and I can only get MakeMKV to generate the dump file by choosing to close it when the status says "Parsing file: /AACS/ContenHash001.tbl" - it I just leave it, there is no dump file. I literally have to clik the X to close the program when it show this status for it to generate the dump file...

Can someone explain to me what is going on here?

Hey Rander, the disc ID of your 28 Years Later disc is 0x3D72113E6E8CA0B8427D412DFAC938EF692BB82B. You seem to have accidentally copied the disc ID posted by user dave_or_did:

I've double checked and your particular disc variant fully supported by the public keydb. I'd recommend verifying that you have placed the latest keydb.cfg file in the same directory that MakeMKV places its generated disc dump files.

Could you provide the actual TGZ dump file please? The Unit_Key_RO.inf and MKB_RO.inf files are not enough by themselves. At the minimum, you would also need to provide a MakeMKV discatt.dat file that contains crucial disk metadata.

It seems the Disc ID is already present in the latest keydb file. I submit this anyway since this is the only disc I can't open or backup.

The below release appears to be missing from the public keydb. I would like to contribute, however for this disc I found it was already natively supported by MakeMKV so the program wouldn't create a disc dump.

I tried following the instructions in this post to force MakeMKV to create the dump, but it would not work for me.

I eventually got a disc dump generated by MakeMKV (below) but only when also running in a VM (Win10 for the VM, vs. Win11 on my main host... not sure if that has a bearing). It still would not consistently create the dump though (noting: still following the instructions to disable internet access and remove the _private_data.tar and keydb.cfg files)... only after opening and closing MakeMKV numerous times would it then sometimes create the disc dump.

In light of this, for discs MakeMKV already natively supports but are missing from the public keydb, what is the process? Is there any consistent way to force MakeMKV to create a disc dump so we can submit the required files?

Alternatively, is there another way to manually create a disc dump without MakeMKV? What files are actually required in the tgz to have it added to the public keydb?

Anyway, hopefully the below is usable to add to the public keydb.
