I don't think the ISOs created are larger than the MKVs.
Yes, for starters ISO and M2TS need the ac3 core for TrueHD tracks and with the container overhead it can make them as much as 10% bigger.
Sorry, I should have added more detail. I have both an Nvidia Shield and an x700. I usually do a full disc back-up of my UHDs, from those backups I will create an MKV of the main movie for storage on my server for HDR10 playback on the Shield.
I am one of those people that can really notice the "red push" on the Shield, so I have been hanging onto my full disc back-ups of DoVi discs so that I can create Blu-Ray folders or TS files to playback in Dolby Vision on my x700. Ideally, I could get rid of the full disc back-ups and only save the MKVs. That way I don't have the MKV and full back-up, effectively doubling my stored data. I just wanted to understand the most reliable way to extract all the necessary data from the MKV before tossing my back-ups. I prefer to not re-rip my discs if I can avoid it.
Atmos sound and dolby Vision (Mel and fel) is working now on my ugoos AM6 plus box in kodi.
you are not telling us the whole truth . Out of about 20 DV-FEL (mkv 7.06), I can watch 2-3 movies without critical problems, the others have frequent problems with picture scattering and freezing. Not to mention problems with rewinding or resuming after stop.
(am6+ 0.42 firmware, lasts kodinerds kodi build)
Which are the few movies you have less issues with?
list of less problem movies:
10 Cloverfield Lane DV-FEL
Donnie Darko DV-MEL
Midsommar DC DV-FEL
Hope someone can answer this: I have a 23.976fps web-dl with HDR10+ and the same movie in 24fps 4K remux. Is it possible to convert the HDR10+ to DV and inject it to the remux even if the frame rates are different?
Black Widow UHD + P5 = the same exact source/fames/time stamps = all match exactly
Happy P8 making
Hi, is there a guide for this please?
I can’t get the switches correct with DoVi tool.
I converted HDR+ to DV no problem, now I want to do a UHD (P8) of Black Widow with P5 rpu.
Thanks I had already worked it out from that page
it was the output switches I was by getting right - Black Widow works very well.
If you have a movie where your RPU is offset is there a simple guide to fix this or is is it not worth bothering with?
If anyone here in this thread has the French Dolby Vision FEL UHD release of The Incredible Hulk (2008) - if you could give me a mediainfo info 'printout' of the main title (without BL+EL merged but the info for both layers) please and thank you (I know sources would be the same, wondering if its BL is really same as US UHD though not just same source)

Sorry if this is discussed before. I assume yusesope's tool version (FEL to MEL + UHD-BD to 8.1 + SKIP HDR10+ + Experimental Muxer) is the proper one for adding the "-skip_hdr10plus" switch in the DEMUX.bat, but I can't get this to work.
Commandwindow says "Wait..." and nothing happens for ages. Without the added switch demuxing works fine. Anybody maybe knows why it isn't working?
Much obliged.

So both Firestick 4K 2018 & Max look the same with the Spears & Munsil eagle beak shot.
I tried both original profile 7 and converted to 8.1.
It's not as yellow as with the LG C8 internal player.
L2 metadata isn't being ignored, so this might actually be the player-led issue.
Has anyone reproduced it with another device?
Not really able to answer your question, but I also own both versions, 2018 and 2021 models of Fire TV 4k Stick. Sorry if I am being redundant with my question. But can we safely say Fire TV 4k Max 2021 model does not play FEL DV, but ignores the El and acts like Nvidia Shield? If this is the case, how accurate the colors are with "MEL" at that point if it's ignoring the EL? Are there any test files to test it out properly @quietvoid? Any way I can help you with the test?

I don't think they use player-led (I was the one who suspected it): with our 2018 LG Oleds it's easy to notice, it produces the same banding/posterization as with HDR10 in PC mode (probably triggering the same low latency mode, where certain basic image processing is disabled).
So Oppo's player-led output is different from Firestick4k's output, there's no such issue with Firestick4k.
So, not sure why it's different, but we saw this with the black level test as well, that's why I stopped using Firestick4k, and use the Plex app on the TV instead.
If you upload samples and tell me exactly when/what to look for I can take a look.

I don't have a profile 7 FEL that looks different to check it out.
I'm pretty sure it ignores the EL, though.
So far regardless of profile 7 or (converted) profile 8, there's a difference in quality for the sample below.
