As of August 2025 the Beta key has run out and the payment site is down.
Did the program go dark or it is a mistake?
Payment site down?
Re: Payment site down?
It's a whole thing. It's been down since 8-2, since several people reported they purchased a key without receiving one. Mike only checks on things occasionally, according to reports, so no solid eta on when it will be resolved, but prob in the next week or two. In the meantime there are workarounds involve backdating the system clock.
Re: Payment site down?
Yes, you can temporarily change the date of your PC before launching MakeMKV to anywhere in July then immediately return it to current after launching MakeMKV.
Regarding Mike being MIA, it is common for it to be 2 or 3 days after a beta key expires before Mike updates it, but we are now at more than 1 week since it expired so this is an unusual situation.
Hopefully Mike returns soon and fixes things so people can buy licenses, not to mention fix the beta key so people who want to use the free version can, but at this point I am hoping he is alive & well.
I wonder if any person on the forum has private contact info for him...

Re: Payment site down?
I would imagine the payment site would have full contact details for Mike that's the worrying thing, it's fine being away on holiday and not replying to forum emails but for a payment business not being able to contact him now that's strange and worrying.dyoung wrote: ↑Fri Aug 08, 2025 4:43 pmYes, you can temporarily change the date of your PC before launching MakeMKV to anywhere in July then immediately return it to current after launching MakeMKV.

Re: Payment site down?
Someone has stated that PayPro Global told them that they had been in contact with Mike.

Re: Payment site down?
I doubt that a business would actually let out any information to a customer, I would say it's more like they have been told to say that to the customers to say they have been in contact with Mike, everything is private and confidential between what Mike has said to the payment process business.dcoke22 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 08, 2025 5:47 pmSomeone has stated that PayPro Global told them that they had been in contact with Mike.

No one knows anything for sure.

Re: Payment site down?
Who knows.
Being that I ripped a bunch of my library so I could watch it on my home server, I thought that if the public key was expired, then a purchased key would be effective. Considering how much I used MakeMkv, I thought it was worth the $60 USD to continue using. So I submitted payment. I didn't receive any response when I emailed the seller email. I contacted the payment processor to ask them to contact the seller. I received an email saying that they reached out.... no info for a while.
Unprompted, the payment processor emailed saying that Refund is being processed. Supposedly processed within 5 to 10 days.
So, I'm assuming that the payment processor is concerned/annoyed that the seller has gone silent. I mean, how bad are things that a payment processor willingly gave money backed unasked?
Extrapolate what you will from that.

Crypto is fine with me, just a suggestion.

I couldn't even get into the purchase side, I got a 'The action is temporarily unavailable.'Bob_the_Gassy wrote: ↑Sat Aug 09, 2025 2:09 amWho knows.

Guess I'll wait til Mike comes back to sort things. It's such a great software, and I'm happy to pay for it. I assume this is not Mike's full-time job, and that he does have other stuff on, so i'll just wait. (no choice either way!) Hopefully it will be resolved soon.

Re: Payment site down?
This is pretty normal actually. It's no different than any other merchant error refund. Some company runs a sale and accidentally sets the price too low and people order it expecting a steal? Cancel it and issue a refund since they listed it at a price they had no intention of selling it for. A limited edition item gets listed and a few more orders went through than they were able to fulfill? Last few orders get cancelled and refunded. Payment processor sells more MakeMKV license keys than they actually have? Cancel the orders that can't be fulfilled and issue a refund.Bob_the_Gassy wrote: ↑Sat Aug 09, 2025 2:09 amUnprompted, the payment processor emailed saying that Refund is being processed. Of course they reach out to Mike first since they'd rather get additional supply in and just fulfill orders with a slight delay rather than cancel, but they can't control when they get supply in. What they can control is the fact that they took your money for something they can't actually provide and that's easy enough to fix with a refund.
