Re: Is it possible to extract subtitles only from 4k/standard blu ray disc?
If you're only interested in (translated) subtitles you could search for them (in the preferred language) on opensubtitles.org. Sometimes you have to adjust the times slightly because releases in different regions can differ at the beginning (publisher logos etc.) so the main movie starts a few seco...

Re: Chapter support in standalone player ?
It's odd that your TV and BD player support MKV playback, but not the chapters. Be aware that they probably have no chapter selection menu for MKV files, but have you tried to use the jump to next chapter function?

Re: Forced subtitles
Thanks again for the feedback DukeFleed. One last question, if I want to only change the name of an audio/subtitle track for a mkv file using mkvtoolnix, do I still have to choose multiplex? Always. That's not true. You can edit the Metadata of any track without remuxing. In MKVToolnix GUI open the...

Re: bad quality after ripping blu ray
MakeMKV copies the media streams (video and audio) as is and checks the hash values to make sure no errors occurred. There is no re-encode or any change of the content beside decrypting and repacking it inside a Matroska container. So if the quality is bad, there are only two possibilities: the qual...

Re: I get on ending which says there is no soundtrack it can play
Open the mkv file with MKVToolnix GUI and check if it contains any audio tracks. If audio tracks are present, your preferred player could be missing the necessary codecs. Which player are you using? If the video file doesn't contain any audio tracks, make sure in MakeMKV that the video files you wan...

Re: Ripping in different languages
Either do as dcoke22 wrote and make a backup first, or select all audio tracks before ripping to MKV.
You can later remux the MKV with MKVToolNix to get rid of the unwanted audio tracks.

Re: Missing MPLS from MKV title list - Alien Anthology Extras
Bumping this issue, I have just run into it ripping my Alien Anthology box set. Figuring out the main movie titles is trivial (biggest ones, then compare runtimes to figure out which is Theatrical cut and which is Director's/Special/etc) Thought it would be fun to throw the deleted scenes into Plex...

Re: Forced subtitles
There are two different kinds of forced subtitles (if not burned in the video track) on a Blu-ray: a separate track for the forced subtitles embedded in the normal "full" subtitles with a forced flag on each text that should always be shown The "(forced only)" sub track option in...

Re: All Pioneer drives will be LibreDrive supported
Hi all, new to Ripping and it's more so a question of the hardware and this is my first post here. Pls bear in mind that I'm currently located in Germany and will be using the drive with my M2 MBP. Being where I am there was little choice of what external optical drive is available to be purchased ...

Re: Forced subtitles
If you rip the disc once with all (English) subtitles enabled, you don't need to rip the disc a second time. With mkvtoolnix you can enable/disable tracks, switch flags for default and forced flags, or remux the movie (= repacking with different (subtitle) tracks or a different track order without r...

Re: Option to NOT convert Closed Captions to text subtitles
MakeMKV is not changing the videostream, only remuxing it into a Matroska container. Therefore the CC info that is embedded in the video stream should stay intact. But I could be wrong. MakeMKV uses ccextractor under the hood to convert the closed captions data to srt. But ccextractor itself can als...

Re: confusing 3D-Bluray standard ripping options?
Like Ezatoka already mentioned, the unselected Video on the 3D Blu-ray is the stereo part for the second eye. If you want to have the video in 3D format you need to check it, otherwise only a normal 2D version is ripped. If you don't care about 3D and a non 3D Blu-ray is included, you can also simpl...

Re: External drive for DVD and BD only
For DVDs and normal Blu-rays, any drive that can read Blu-rays should work. Only UHD discs need LibreDrive support. Pioneer drives are considered to have the highest quality, but are hard to get in Germany at the moment. And since they are discontinued they probably never come back. But there are st...

Re: Ripping "The Blue Lagoon" German BluRay Disc (Die Blaue Lagune) - 100+ Options in MakeMKV
Use the preferred segments and merge them in the correct order with makemkv. Out of curiosity how would you do that? With the linked chapters feature it's also possible to create a file that works like seamless branching on Blu-rays with all different segments in one file. And this too… how would y...

Re: The Walking Dead- Daryl Dixon missing English subs
Extract the forced subtitles from the mkv with mkvextract which is part of mkvtoolnix. There is also a GUI wrapper available: gMKVExtractGUI After that, load the subtitle in BDSup2Sub and you can see what exactly is included. If you really want forced subtitles for all French dialogues but the force...
