Re: If you're experiencing rip errors, please read here first!
I don't think anyone has found a solution to this? I'm currently going through the same thing with MAKEMKV ripping 0 title, 1 failed. Tried making backup ISO and using all protection settings from cell-trim, walk, full and auto. Nothing works. Any ideas anyone? This is so annoying. Common makemkv d...

Re: If you're experiencing rip errors, please read here first!
The error is saying it couldn't save the file, and the lack of any intervening messages from the read often means that something blocked the write. You've tested the write to that path, correct? I have. Moreover, MakeMKV is able to create the directory just fine. I have plenty of space on the file ...

makemkvcon low performance for DVD
Ubuntu linux, makemkvcon 1.15.1 Ripping BluRay works fine, no issues or performance degradation observed. When ripping DVD, however, performance is poor and it takes more time to rip DVD content than Bluray content (even though BluRay accounts for much more data being ripped overall). The only thing...

Re: Friends Blu Ray Collection
I bought the blueray set recently and had a different ordering of the files. I've updated the dictionary.txt and I also updated the rename.py script to perform validation (to make sure the files you have are the same as the dictionary expects). FYI... You have S08E09 named incorrectly. You have &qu...

Re: If you're experiencing rip errors, please read here first!
Somewhere here in the forum it says that problems with ripping are ALWAYS due to the reading weaknesses of the Blu-ray player. This is definitely WRONG! I have three blu-rays here that cannot be ripped with makemkv: - castaway - Blues Brothers - Mamma Mia However, they can be played in the same rea...

Re: If you're experiencing rip errors, please read here first!
How long are you waiting for it to "do something"? Have you checked the tmp directory to see if it's creating a file there at all?

Re: If you're experiencing rip errors, please read here first!
That's all well and good. How do I get it to read my disc? How do I know if it's valid errors or not? The standard advice is to try gently cleaning the disc. Also, trying a different drive will often yield different results. If all else fails, a different copy of the disc. Neither get a new disc or...

Re: If you're experiencing rip errors, please read here first!
Usually, if MakeMKV produces an output file, then the rip was successful. If it encounters an unrecoverable error, you won't get an output file at all. The log file for the rip should show the final status, too, along with the reason it finally "gives up" if it doesn't make it to the end.

Re: Options to upgrade on Ubuntu now?
This may not be an ideal solution, but I do publish unofficial Debian packages for MakeMKV at https://apt.calenhad.com. I "eat my own dogfood" and use these packages on my systems. They should remain up to date as new releases come out. Pros: Properly packaged as debs Cleanly install/upgr...

Options to upgrade on Ubuntu now?
I have an Ubuntu machine that I've been running for around four years or so. It has been built specifically for the purposes of ripping discs for my media server and has worked well... Until today. It has been a short while since I've gotten new discs and ripped them, and I am a couple of revisions ...

Re: If you're experiencing rip errors, please read here first!
-IF- this is a DNS issue, then it has to do with how the client software is coded. I have two distinct systems on my home network - one that runs the CLI version and one that runs the GUI version. They both use identical DNS information and one ALWAYS works (the GUI version) while the other USUALLY ...

Re: If you're experiencing rip errors, please read here first!
After searching through and reading many different threads, it seems that the problem was that MakeMKV was unable to download the hk keys, due to an issue with the DNS server not being able to resolve an ip address for hkdatastore.tk Oddly enough, I could nslookup hkdatastore.tk via command prompt ...

Re: makemkvcon and headless operation
Some good folks on the Internets have been telling me "Don't use HandBrake to rip your movies for Plex. Use MakeMKV to get a full quality copy then let Plex transcode as necessary. Disk space is cheap." I use my DVD of the movie Elf as a test. First I ripped with HandBrake set at Constant...
