My BU40N HATES StudioCanal

I purchased a brand new BU40N and installed it internally in my ThinkPad L540 running Win10 LTSC 21. It has no issues for almost everything, but for some reason it has had issues exclusively with StudioCanal releases; The Trial, Mulholland Drive and various discs from the Jean-Pierre Melville collection. I have tried LibreDrive 1.00 and 1.03 patches, using an older version of MakeMKV (1.17.2) and settings tweaks. It always fails 60-70% of the way into the main movie file, sometimes producing different errors for the same disc done twice. Same Mulholland Drive disc ripped fine on a generic external drive a little over a year ago. Melvilles and The Trial were both purchased new in May, but am in process of getting them replaced to see if I just coincidentally got a bunch of bad discs. Is there anyone who has had this specific issue or similar? Any advice is appreciated.

How are you powering the drive? If the host has a USB-C port, maybe try to connect the USB-SATA adapter to it (through a C-A adapter; or get one that has a USB-C plug).

(I've also seen USB-SATA adapters from Orico that come with a 5V USB-C power-in...)
